Ready or Not It's Monday

How was your weekend, buds?
The hh and the boy were going to go to the Illinois-North Carolina game, but the boy got sick. It may have been just as well that they weren't there since they would have had to do the walk of shame. NC trounced the Fighting Illini.
The hh and I went to see A Walk In The Woods. I enjoyed it. Redford and Nolte were great, especially Nolte. There were a lot of funny moments.  I went into it, expecting to love it. I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it.  Have you seen it? What did you think?

Later we watched Gone Girl.  Oh my.  If you haven't seen it, just let me say its not for the faint of heart. The plot has plenty of twists and turns, but it was more than I bargained for in several areas. Have you seen it? What did you think?

Ironic since NC doesn't win a ton of games.
Gone Girl was a tough film all right.

I read Gone Girl and wouldn't, couldn't see the movie. I disliked all of the major characters...
Nearly Tuesday here. And Monday has been particularly Mondayish. Everything I touched fell apart today...

I hear nobody really loved it... but then again how can anyone love a movie with Redford?

I loved a Walk in the Woods. Redford (Be Still My Heart) and Nolte were awesome together, but I"ve known that for decades.

Hi, dear Sandra! Happy Monday! A Walk in the Woods boasts four major stars and I admire them all. My only concern is that the movie might be filled with predictable situations and jokes about aging. I loved Kristen Schaal on 30 Rock and she appears to be an asset in this film.

Mrs. Shady and I would definitely like to see Gone Girl because we enjoy murder mysteries. Thanks for showing us the trailers to both movies and have a wonderful week, dear friend Sandra!

I'm glad to see Monday because it means the end of a four-day weekend that was all around a writing conference. Too much people time! I'm an introvert...gotta have my alone time.

As for Gone Girl, I would recommend the book over the movie. Without giving too much away to those who haven't seen it, I felt the twist wasn't quite as much of a twist in the movie because of Ben Affleck. He...lacks the range that has you unsure of whether he's a good or bad guy. Other actors can do it, but Ben Affleck comes across as a nice guy no matter what he does. The book was awesome...I was disappointed in the movie. Plus, Neil Patrick Harris? Was it me or was that not a strange casting choice for that character?

Seen the trailer but that is it. Gone Girl was good, but the ending was stupid and there weren't any likeable characters in it.

Don't you hate it when the rest of the world is sleeping and your mind refuses to shut down. Hope you were able to sleep in, but since its Monday, I realize that's doubtful.

My weekend was decent. I got a little bit of writing done and watched a couple of movies. :) Today is a BLAH Monday more than usual. I had a doctor's appointment this morning and tomorrow I have a dental appointment. Yay! Not. lol

Hi Alex,
How's your Monday going?
Gone Girl was not my cup of tea, although....I really enjoyed Tyler Perry. To me he made the movie.

I tried reading Gone Girl, but could not get into it.
Hope your day/evening gets better and that tomorrow is wondrous.

I have seen neither. I want to read Gone Girl before I see the movie, though!

Your weekend sounded fun! I went out Friday night and spent the weekend recovering from all of the walking!

I think he still has a healthy following. What is it you don't like about him?

Sandra Cox said...

They did do a great job of playing off each other. I especially liked Nolte and the character he played.

NC is a pretty state.
Hope you're having a relaxing evening, Yvonne.

Hi Shady, please warn Mrs. Shady that GG is very intense.
You have a great week too! :)

Sandra Cox said...

What conference did you attend, Steph?
I tried the book but just could not get into it. Maybe I should have tried a little harder, read a little longer.
NPH did play a different role didn't he?

The one character I liked was the attorney. I thought he was great:) Made me laugh.

It has been VERY popular at the library I work for... I should put a hold on it.

It was. I went to the Academy of Natural Sciences on Friday, then just relaxed on Saturday and Sunday. I did write a little.

My hubby and I went out for our anniversary but we got to the theatre later than we wanted after dinner so our first choice, Balck Mass, was almost all full except for the very front seats-I don't like kinks in my neck so our next choice was going to be this film-A Walk in the woods. It already started and was a little into the movie so we went to see...The Visit. Stupid and silly-Knew what happened after 15 min and was annoying the way it was filmed. I did see Gone Girl and thought it was quite good. The wife was excellent whereas Affleck just plays a dumb idiot but that one scene with Pike and Harris at the end caught me way off guard

Gone Girl was really too R for me. If you see it let me know what you think.

Gone Girl was too R for me. But I did enjoy the attorney:) I thought he was a hoot.
