Paying It Forward

I'm in debt. I've had back to back pay it forwards.
I may have previously mentioned, when we first moved in, we had to get some work done on the dryer. I asked the appliance repair person if he installed cat doors. He responded no, but said there was a member of his church that was a wonderful carpenter. He gave me his name and it turned out to be one of our faculty member's that's in the same division as the hh. The next day I shared the conversation with the faculty member and he said he'd be glad to do it.  He came out last week and installed the door and wouldn't take a penny for it, just said to 'take the gift.'
A few days later, I called our contractor and asked him to check out the roof as the sun room had a leak. He came out, checked the roof, put sealant where there was a possibility for leaks and--you guessed it--wouldn't take any money for it.
When my sister was in, she snagged the tab that I'd planned on picking up for our mani-pedis.
My son and his wife got the Cheesecake bill at the birthday party.
I'm in arrears on paying it forward.

Next To Her Cover Reveal

For more than two years, the 84-year-old Maurice takes care of his terminally ill wife Yvonne. Because of the stress and strain of caring for someone in need of constant supervision, the line between nurturing and torturing is easily crossed. Is the elderly couple still capable of uncovering the tenderness of their bond?

Available on http://fave.co/15xybGD (Amazon US),
http://fave.co/15xwXeC (Amazon UK), etc.

NEXT TO HER is based on the last years of fellow blogger Vanessa Morgan's grandfather.
This is a screen play for a short film. Not a normal book.
*If you visit Traveling Cats Blog, you'll probably recognize the cat in the photo.

Is It Just Me?

This was a quote from our local paper:
By John Hamlin jhamlin@statesville.com
Matt McCall says he wants to turn the Iredell County Republican Party into a high-speed, low-drag, liberal-slaying machine.
Really?  Is it just me or has politics gotten just a tad out of hand? Isn't this just another form of prejudice? What do you think?

The Party's Over

Thanks for all the well wishes. Had a great bday. We partied for three days...sedately of course. grin.
My brother and sister-in-law picked up my sister at the airport and we hooked up and went out to dinner.  Friday night the hh, my sister and I had cake and ran around in glow stick jewelry.  Well to clarify,my sister and I ran around in the glow stick jewelry, the hh refused to wear it. We turned out the lights and videoed. It wasn't exactly the Blair Witch Project, but it was funny to watch since all you could see were the various colors dancing around. The next day we hooked up with my son, daughter-in-law and THE BABIES at the Cheesecake Factory where they were kind enough to treat us to lunch.  Best Birthday Ever.

Monday, Cable Provider and Cover Reveal

Happy Monday, everyone. Though, I'm not sure that's not an oxymoron:) Has anyone dealt with their cable provider lately? If so you have my sincere condolences. Ever since we've moved we've had issues. The first being the cable. After several phone calls they finally sent out a technician and yup, the cable hadn't been hooked up in the cave. Last Friday someone was to come out and check out the internet. He called at seven a.m. and said he'd be there in five minutes. Ten minutes later he called again and asked where we were. He'd went to our  old address and told the new owner that he was there to repair the internet and had just talked to his wife. To which the new owner replied. "You didn't talk to my wife." I gave the technician our address which (they obviously had since they set the cable up the first time and came back a second) was five minutes away from where he was at, but he could not come because that address was not on his ticket. After another two hours on the phone, it was finally rescheduled. On one of the many phone calls I made, I asked for the number of  the local office and was told they couldn't give that out but if I wanted to go in person, they could give me the address. Say what? I had to slap the side of my head a couple of times to make sure I'd heard that correctly. But enough grumbling, how was your weekend? Tell me all about it.

Wacky Wednesday or 10,000 Butterfinger Bites Later

OMG, the hh--oops I mean Santa--put miniature Butterfingers in my Christmas Stocking. When they have some age to them, I can hold my own. But when they are fresh, forget it, I have no will power. And they are so small, how can that teensie bite equate into calories? Probably, one teensie bite wouldn't but the number of teensie bites I took....let's just say, I'm going to need to spend a lot more time on the treadmill.

25 Roses

25 Roses

Stephanie Faris

Blurb:

Mia moves from the shadows to the spotlight when her matchmaking plans go awry in this contemporary M!X novel from the author of 30 Days of No Gossip.

Mia is used to feeling overlooked: her perfect older sister gets all the attention at home, and the popular clique at school are basically experts at ignoring her. So when it’s time for the annual Student Council chocolate rose sale, Mia is prepared to feel even worse. Because even though anyone can buy and send roses to their crushes and friends, the same (popular) people always end up with roses while everyone else gets left out.

Except a twist of fate puts Mia in charge of selling the roses this year—and that means things are going to change. With a little creativity, Mia makes sure the kids who usually leave empty-handed suddenly find themselves the object of someone’s affection. But her scheme starts to unravel when she realizes that being a secret matchmaker isn’t easy—and neither is being in the spotlight.

Bio:
Stephanie Faris knew she wanted to be an author from a very young age. In fact, her mother often told her to stop reading so much and go outside and play with the other kids. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism, she somehow found herself working in information technology. But she never stopped writing.

Stephanie is the author of 30 Days of No Gossip and 25 Roses, both with Aladdin M!x. When she isn’t crafting fiction, she writes for a variety of online websites on the topics of business, technology, and her favorite subject of all—fashion. She lives in Nashville with her husband, a sales executive.
