Two Left. Three Came Back.

Greetings, blogster buds.  We're back!  We drove to central Illinois for my nephew's wedding, with a stopover in southern Illinois to see my aunt and uncle.
Our travel encounters usually involve weather, construction and traffic.  This trip our travel challenge was a little different.
The day we were to leave my aunt and uncle's, I heard a meowing in the woods.  A man cutting the grass said he thought it was a catbird.  I'm thinking, please be a catbird. But just in case I called.  Across the road and out of the woods streaked a kitten, just as a car came down the road. My heart stopped.  The kitten raced across the lanes, luckily before the car reached him and landed at my feet.
We tried rescue--filled up.  And the neighbors--it wasn't theirs.
Like so many other kittens, apparently he'd been  dumped.
If there had been another option, we would have taken it, but there was no way he could have survived in the woods.  So we packed him up and he went to central Illinois with us then back to NC.  Let me just say here, that the HH has always been great about rescues and this was no exception.  He said the minute he saw that kitten streaking across the road he knew he'd be coming with us to NC.
My main concern traveling with him was would we be able to get a hotel room that would take a kitten.  My sister had made us reservations at Days Inn. When we inquired about their pet policy, we found out that all they required was a ten dollar pet deposit. Whew. I was extremely relieved as I had visions of sleeping in the car with the kitten.
I'm going to put him on petfinder.com but we both think we've got another cat.
Okay, it's your turn.  What's been going on while I've been gone?

My heart was in my mouth as the kitten shot across the road. And of course you have another cat. Frankie is a complete cutie.

Cute kitty. In Iowa there are more stray cats(feral) than people. He must have rode well, you have a big heart!

You know he is your cat....you named him! He is a cutie and if it was us, we would now have 6 cats. He came right up to you so he must be affectionate and glad he met you. The wedding picture is so sweet. Her dress looks beautiful. A friend of mine went to his sister's wedding and he sent me a picture...her dress was ok until the last 1/3. That's when it blew up like a white meringue. Oh well...the key is that they had a beautiful wedding. It looks like your nephew had a great wedding. I'm still on vacation in Quebec.......south of Montreal right on the Richelieu river. It had been beautiful. We drive home tomorrow

Sure became a traveling kitty for a while. Sounds like another cat to the bunch at your sea indeed.

Thanks, Yvonne. It is looking like he's here to stay, which isn't making one of my cats very happy.

Aw. I'm so glad you you're doing all you can for that kitty. I'm secretly hoping you keep him. :) And a $10 pet fee for a hotel is great! A lot cheaper than I would've expected.

Thanks, Andrew I think mamma or dad was a Turkish Angora. He's got the face shape, the build and the silky fur.

Thanks, Anne Marie. They do seem very happy don't they? And kitty has made himself at home.

That was pretty much what the HH said and he named him. Grin. Did you see that article in the paper about the lost turtle named Frankie? That's who he named him for:)

Seems like:) My daughter's response: he was probably telling his buddies you just have to cry louder and longer so that someone hears you:)

If you're wondering about the deletes, I blush to admit....typos.

He's a pistol.

I hear ya and it's disgusting. All because people aren't willing to take responsibility for their pets. I don't know what the current figures are but several years ago, 6K dogs and cats were put down in this county alone per year. Multiply that times the # of counties in NC, then other states and other state counties. It's staggering.

He thinks he needs to be around people 24/7. Even when we had him outside he stayed right with us.
White meringue, huh?:) I'm glad they had a beautiful wedding. And you keep enjoying your vacay.
Hugs

He certainly got to see the sights:)
And bunch being the operative word here:)

I agree about the hotel fee. I was surprised they'd even let us keep him in the room.

Thanks, Suzanne.

What a sweet kitten. I'm glad he made it across the road. There's a particularly thrill-seeking cat near me who loves to jump out at cars - my heart stops every time!

I wonder how normal it is that people take their pets to hotels, then?
