Weeds

Monday's Question

Why do weeds grow faster than flowers?
Just for fun I'll send an e copy of Flower Gardens and More to a random commenter.
I'm please to announce DL Finn won the RRBC giveaway.

  1. Faster and taller. Particularly the ones with prickles or those that cause allergies. And their roots reach the other side of the world.

  2. Why? That's easy - because they are weeds....Happy Monday, hugs, Valerie

  3. I suppose there are more weeds to keep the gardeners on their toes to ensure all is well in the floral land.

  4. Only humans don't think weeds are attractive. We are only part of the animal world. The rest of the animal world cares not two hoots and I expect some animals like weeds, of various types. Mind, I have in the past spent a lot of time dabbing poison on the leaves of oxalis with a paint brush. I was winning, but then we moved.

    1. Good point, Andrew. And often times we change our views on what we consider flowers and weeds. A lot of our current 'wild flowers' used to be considered weeds.

  5. They certainly grow faster than grass. Although I've learned the right balance of Weed and Feed to get those suckers early.

  6. Maybe we'd all do better if we grew weed gardens instead?

    1. I have a weed garden! One entire path in the back of our house, I grow what ever is there and the animals/bees, love it and I have to admit, looks pretty good! :)

  7. There's a saying (and I don't know if this is regional, local, or just my mum - which is possible, she says some weird stuff) that 'a weed is just a flower growing in the wrong place'... So I choose to really want those weeds... ahem, FLOWERS right there :-)

  8. Because weeds know how to survive and adapt. When stress hits, be a weed

  10. Some weeds can be so beautiful. Dandelions. Thistles. But I can only appreciate them in the wild. Not in my garden, thank you!

  12. If I didn't have weeds in my flower bed, it would be a lot less full.

  13. I just saw your question about the sandwich I ordered. Yes, there were cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, both green and black, green peppers, sprouts, and green onions, as well as provolone and jalapeno cheeses. To answer your other question, I am a vegetarian, and it's very difficult to be one in BEEF country. Vegetarians don't fare well when dining out in Wichita, KS. You either eat lots of deep fried food, or cave in and eat chicken or fish. Even Italian restaurants find a way to include meat sauce with most dishes.
