Just Her Poetry

I’d like to welcome good bud and fellow author D. L. Finn with her new release JUST HER POETRY Seasons of a Soul. I just started reading this and it is truly lovely. The poems scoop you up and sit you in the middle of nature.

Thank you, Sandra, for having me on your blog to celebrate the release of my first poetry book, “Just Her Poetry Seasons of a Soul."  To tell your followers a little about myself here are some
Finn Facts:
1.     I am a huge fan of “Happily Ever After” in movies and books.
2.     I proudly have my great-grandparents 50th Anniversary Cake Topper in my china cabinet. I plan to use it for my own 50th Wedding Anniversary!

Blurb:
Take a journey with D.L. Finn as she blends her love of nature with her deepest emotions. Sit with her on the forest floor observing its tranquil beauty, or stroll along the ocean’s shore admiring the vastness of its horizon. Here in these peaceful moments you’ll be able to experience her thoughts and feelings in the light—and in the darkness. This is a thought-provoking collection of poetry that invites the reader into all the seasons of a soul.

Excerpt from NATURE Spring and Summer:
PLANT
Today is the first warm day of spring
I step outside excited to sit in the sun
The bare trees are starting to bud
Green pine needles reach for the clear blue sky.
Birds are singing, while gathering for their nests
The bees find daffodils and lilies to satisfy their hunger
The bear has awakened from its winter nap,
Tipping over its first full garbage can.
Pine cones scattered amongst those littered from fall
The air heavy with rebirth, it’s time to plant my seeds
Not just introducing them to the soil, but in my mind
To grow and thrive like the magical landscape around me
Nurtured in love and hope for another season of growth
When mistakes and lessons are the fertile base
As I reach for the stars with my dreams
Spring reminds me that all is possible if you just plant it.

D.L. Finn is an independent California local who encourages everyone to embrace their inner child. She was born and raised in the foggy Bay Area, but in 1990 relocated with her husband, kids, dogs, and cats to the Sierra foothills in Nevada City, CA. She immersed herself in reading all types of books, but especially loved romance, horror, and fantasy. She always treasured creating her own reality on paper. Finally, being surrounded by towering pines, oaks, and cedars, her creativity was nurtured until it bloomed. Her creations vary from children’s books, young adult fantasy, and adult paranormal romance to an autobiography with poetry. She continues on her adventures with an open invitation for her readers to join her.

It's great to see Denise here! And a huge jumping-up-and-down wave to Sandra, too. Hope all is well with you :)

Denise's book is a beautiful collection of poetry with vividly imagined images that made me wish I was there. The nature poems especially resonated with me, but I loved the entire collection. Congrats to Denise on this awesome release!

Agree completely. I'm loving what I've read so far.

Isn't that a wonderful idea? Maybe we should stick a couple of our books in the ground. Heh.
My pleasure, John;)

You're wonderful to support us Indie authors, Sandra. I have to confess: I'm a nut about Westerns and grabbed yours. A bargain for $.99!

D.L. Finn said...

Thank you Jan. Im happy to read you enjoyed the poem:) It is a treasure that almost got thrown away. Only fifteen years to go!

D.L. Finn said...

Thanks Birgit! Nature does sooth the soul:) It would be a very happy ending to hit a 50th Wedding Anniversary!

D.L. Finn said...

Thanks, Mae:) Still doing my happy dance here, but inside now its gotten too cold in the rain!

D.L. Finn said...

Thank you, John:) we do have a lot of positive seed to get planted this season!

That's a great idea Sandra to plant our books deeply in the soil and the rain and sun take over.

D.L. Finn said...

Sandra is a bigger supporter, Jacqui I agree. Both westerns are floating to the top of my TBR list and .99 is a steal!

Oh my, Denise, the image of the bear tipping over the first full trash can is mesmerizing. It's that time of the year, and you've captured it so beautifully in your poem. Thank you for hosting, Sandra. :)

D.L. Finn said...

Thank you, Gwen. The bear has already made a stop at our house this year:)
