We were on a wait list for an appliance to be delivered when we received a phone call asking if we were pleased with our installation. We received this message twice. And we found out, one of the appliances we'd ordered, picked up and installed, was still sitting in the warehouse with our name on it. (Okay, it wasn't the exact same appliance, but the appliance's clone. Anyway, you get my drift....I hope. If not it's on me.)
I received a recorded voice message that said this was the second attempt to contact me about the initial appearance in front of a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal criminal defense. When I called back it was for the former owner of my phone number. There was telemarket chatter in the background but when I asked what it was about, they told me it didn't concern me. Spooky and frustrating.
On the way to my hairstylist, I passed a bad accident. Big tree. Little car. Man being loaded into the ambulance.
And back on the education front........
Remember the one percent wages mentioned last week? To add insult to injury, it was announced in a departmental meeting Friday that the CC is considering putting the faculty on time clocks. I'm sure you can imagine how well that's going over.
I survived my Friday and overall the weekend was a good one. I trust you survived yours.
Oh, and coincidentally....the blogster buds left 13 comments. grin.

That first one was incompetence and the second one phishing for sure.
Yeah, I bet timeclocks didn't go over well. Hey, if they are installed, your chance to rack up some overtime and really show them.
That meme, tho! So true. :D
Time clocks? Seriously? That won't hurt morale at all (said sarcastically!). In my old house, I got a post-it note from the sheriff telling me to call. The post-it part seemed funny--it had pre-printed boxes and everything. They checked off "Call as soon as possible." I called back and they said they couldn't help--that I'd have to call during regular business hours. So I worried all night I was in some kind of trouble (couldn't imagine what!) and it turned out, they had a summons for the people who had lived there before--they'd sold their house quickly and left the state. Turned out they'd run a "record company" of some kind and had taken a lot of people's money without delivering what they promised. If you leave the state, the sheriff can't do anything about it... I guess it wasn't enough money to get the Feds involved.
lmao Time locks? Wow, kinda going backwards there. Second sounds like phishing nonsense.
It would be interesting for sure. They don't get vacation time and they don't get overtime, so I can't quite figure out how they're going to do time clocks, if they indeed go through with it.
Time clocks? That is so dated. I would hate to have to use them.
You sure did have a crazy Friday the 13th. Mine was normal. The only bad thing was the news about the killings in Paris.
Grin.
Thanks for stopping by:)
Wow. You had a whirlwind of an adventure this past Friday. Mine was less active. But definitely heartbroken over the news in Paris. :(
Ack. Busy, frustrating, and more than a little crazy.
WOW what a day you had on Friday. I didn't realise it was the 13th til late in the day.
Yvonne.
That's an (eerily) interesting chain of events!
Don't you hate it when that happens? That one would have scared me too!
Pretty crazy, huh. Especially for faculty, who don't exactly have a 9-5 job. Some teach evening classes, some teach on line, they grade homework at home, they help with clubs in the evening. I don't get it.
Isn't that the truth about the time clocks. Jeesh.
Glad you had a decent Friday the 13th.
Very, very sad about Paris.
It's just awful what human beings can do to one another. Or maybe I should say people. There's not much humanity there.
Hope today/tonight is more relaxing, EC.
I bet that's one Friday you're glad is over. Hope your life gets calmer now.
Sounds like yours was okay then, Yvonne:)
Hi Martha. It was definitely interesting. grin.
Thanks for stopping by and for the follow. I'm heading your way now.
Thanks, Beverly. It did settle down:)
Also thanks for commenting and the follow. Much appreciated.
I've had my phone number for 5+ years. I still get calls for a lady named Lisa, who must owe money to everyone on Earth. At first, the calls were frequent and I received collect call requests from a prison. Some people yelled at me that I was Lisa and lying about it. I called AT&T. A customer service rep told me to get as much information from the callers as I could--who they were, where they were, why they were calling, their numbers--and then tell them that if they called me again that I would report them to the police for harassing me. Life is strange. Sometimes I wonder who Lisa is and what happened to her. I could probably invent a story about her. That never occurred to me before.
Love,
Janie
Time clocks?? Are they going to time how long you take in the bathroom?? Geez! The 2nd phone call was downright rude if you ask me. I am also surprised by having 13 messages-wow. My weekend was good. My hubby and I went out Saturday for some Christmas decor shopping and Sunday, I was in pain so didn't do much but had a wonderful talk with a dear friend
That would be way irritating. But you're right, you could make one heck of a story from it. Hmmm.......
I'm glad you had a good talk with a good friend, but sorry to hear your Sunday was spent in pain.
yeah-becoming more the norm-the intensity of it-I need some wine with my whine:)
