Wink and A Nod Thursday

This week's Wink and A Nod Recipients are Jessica Haight and Stephanie Robinson. Their blog: The Secret Files of Fairday Morrow.
If you've never been to Jess and Stephanie's blog you're in for a treat. On Mondays they have fun riddles to solve. On Wednesdays the answer. On Fridays they spotlight children's picture books, review middle grade books and have author interviews. Fun stuff.
Wink, wink Stephanie and Jess.

So many blogs. So little time.

This is a picture from not a family photo

In many regards my sister and I are polar opposites.
She's a blonde. I'm brunette.
She has blue eyes. I have brown.
She eats meat. I'm a vegetarian.
She's a conservative. I'm a liberal.
She's a gun advocate. I believe in gun control.
She wears blue toenail polish. I prefer purple.

Unbeknownst to the other, we both slipped gas money into my daughter's purse before she headed home.
On another occasion...
We looked at each other and said simultaneously, "I like your hair," then burst into giggles.
And one memorable birthday, she drove through a blizzard to celebrate with me.

Wink and A Nod Thursday

This week's Wink and A Nod Recipient is Ann Bennett.
At her So Much To Choose From blog  she offers information on writing, writers factoids and life experiences.  She also has a science blog that is all sorts of fun.
At the moment, Ann is in the middle of A-Z at both blogs.  What a trooper.  Want to learn fun facts about science or writers? Try out Ann's blogs.

Wink, wink, Ann.

Political Bumper Stickers

To my Republican friends, please feel free to ignore this. I try to avoid politics on this blog, because we all feel so deeply about our points of view and sadly there is such a huge divide between the parties. I'm posting this because it struck my funny bone:)
My brother and sis-in-law went with us when we traveled to Southern Illinois a few weeks ago. We had my brother pull his car in the garage, where it was parked next to mine.  He and I took one look at the bumper stickers, on the cars parked side by side, and burst out laughing. I don't know if you can make out the stickers, but his is a Bernie sticker  and mine is Hillary. We had both bases covered...even if it didn't do us any good:)

Wink and A Nod Thursday

This week's Wink and Nod recipient is Barbara Fisher at March House Books.
Barbara posts on vintage books.  Why her interest in antiquated books? She used to be--wait for it--a bookseller. Definitely, one of our favorite occupations. She lives in the charming village of Somerset in the UK.  Best of all, she's a proud grandmother that occasionally shares lovely pictures of the grandchildren.

Wink, wink, Barbara.

So many blogs, so little time.

What Do You Do With Your Valentine's Day Flowers?

I stuck mine in the ground.

The HH gave me a dozen roses for Valentine's Day.  I kept them in water for about a month or so trying to get them to root. When they didn't,  I got impatient and stuck them in the ground.  That was about two weeks ago. They're still alive. We'll see......
I also took some seeds from a bell pepper and potted them.
After they sprouted I put a few in the garden. Again, we'll see.....
Pretend you don't see the weeds;)

Piper Morgan Makes a Splash

We’re in for a treat today.  Our blogger bud Stephanie Morris is about to release another book in the Piper Morgan series:  Piper Morgan Makes a Splash

Piper Morgan tries her hand at acting in the fourth book of the charming Piper Morgan series.

Piper’s mom is helping out at a local pool shop, and the owner wants to shoot a commercial for his store. Piper thinks it’s the PERFECT opportunity to get in front of the camera and experience a little bit of showbiz. But will Piper’s contribution to the TV commercial make a splash—or will it go belly-up?

Stephanie Faris is the author of the middle grade books 30 Days of No Gossip and 25 Roses, as well as the Piper Morgan chapter book series. An accomplished freelance writer, her work has appeared in Writer's Digest, The Writer, Pacific Standard, Mental Floss, and The Week, among many others.

I'm Back and Saying Goodbye

How is everyone? Did you have a great weekend and have you had a productive week so far?
Unfortunately, my time away wasn't for fun.  My uncle in Southern Illinois is rapidly declining so all the sibs went in to see him while we still could. I'm so glad we got to spend time with him but saying goodbye is difficult.
Aging is a tough business.
