Happy Holidays

I'm going to be offline for awhile celebrating with the fam. My daughter and SIL are coming in from PA the 24th, leaving the 27th. My brother and SIL from FL are coming in the 26th and leaving the 1st or thereabouts. My sister from IL is coming in the 29th and leaving the 4th.

I'll be back online sometime in January. Until then may your holidays be wondrous.

Ketchup Day

How are you, Blogger Buds? Shopping, wrapping and baking like crazy?  I think I'm through shopping and ready to start wrapping.

I've already received two wonderful bud gifts. I'm awed and amazed at these presents and that they've already been sent out. We do have the tree up and the kitchen centerpiece out. Baby steps:)  A couple of the ornaments are new ones from the HH. Look for a glass cardinal and a glass grey tabby wearing a red Christmas hat:) Oh yes,and the HH has the outside lights up;)

My annual calendar from author D.L. Finn. I love these calendars composed of her photography and verse. Thanks, Denise, this is such a special gift.

This one was a huge surprise. I did ninety percent of my shopping online this year. When I opened this, I blinked several times and thought, I'm sure I didn't order anyone a French Coffee Press. I took another look at the address on the box and noticed it was to Super Sandra and knew immediately it was a gift from Ro. Isn't that woman amazing?  I would have never bought one for myself. Thank you, Rockin Ro.

Here's the last of the Philly pictures. This lovely old street is one of the oldest residentials in Philly. Beautiful isn't it?

What about you, Blogger Buds, Got your shopping and wrapping done? Baking?

December 7 question - It's holiday time! Are the holidays a time to catch up or fall behind on writer goals?

Heh. This one’s easy. Definitely fall behind😊

The awesome co-hosts for the December 7 posting of the IWSG are Joylene Nowell Butler, Chemist Ken, Natalie Aguirre, Nancy Gideon, and Cathrina Constantine!

November/December reviews in no particular order.

Occasional typos do not figure into my reviews.

THE AMERICANS ARE COMING: AN APPLEGATE MYSTERY by Sherri Hollister

This story, about seventeen-year-old Winnie Applegate, is a fast-paced historical mystery romance that is filled with twists and turns, and constantly moving. The tension grows as one disaster after another hits Colonel Bill Dexter's Wild West Extravaganza traveling show—where Winnie works as a trick rider—once word gets out the show is heading for England. The action builds and the tension mounts as danger follows the show on land and as they cross the ocean.

Winnie’s world kept me turning pages. The characters are well-developed, the world-building believable and the plot holds the reader's interest. The American’s Are Coming is a smooth read that I thoroughly enjoyed and do not hesitate to recommend.

Ketchup Day

Greetings Blogger Buds. Hope your weekend was wondrous.

Today I'm sharing photo odds and ends taken at Winterthur Museum in Delaware, once country home of the DuPont family. I should have snagged a picture of the outside, but of course I didn't give that a thought. The mansion has 175 rooms.

This map was needlepointed back in the day. Amazing isn't it?

I would have loved this doll house when I was a kid. It had cats in it and shoes beside the beds.

Mr. DuPont always made sure the china and the accoutrements matched the centerpiece.

I loved this Christmas tree which was one of many.

I can't imagine how old this tree is.  The picture really doesn't show it but it was one of the tallest I've ever seen.

And last but not least, Denise had another bear sighting.

Ever been to Winterthur? Any bear sightings?

Ketchup Day

The good. The sad. And the ugly.

Greetings Blogger Buds. Hope you had good holidays and or weekend.
We took the train to Philly to spend Thanksgiving with the baby girl and the SIL. It was the first time for us to travel by train and we will probably do it again.

The sad.

We saw two homeless men in separate locations sleeping on wet city streets. So depressing.

The ugly.

Oh my God. Oh my God.   A woman was walking down the street with her bare hinnie hanging out of  her sweat pants.  I'm talking full moon.  It was not a pretty sight. I'm afraid that image is permanently stuck in my brain. Ack. Ack. Ack.

The good.

Our dinner definitely fell under the good category.

 Homemade Butter Squash Pie.

Ever seen blue eggs? Aren't they pretty?

My son-in-law made this bed frame.  Color me awed.

And some fun and fascinating shots.
A manikin.
Statue.
An indoor Bio wall.

I loved this chair.  It's difficult to see with the reflections on the glass.

And,of course, the Liberty Bell.

And last but not least, Philly at night.

How was your weekend/Holiday? Do anything fun?

More pictures next week.
