Did You Know

Did you know that even when John Adams went to Harvard dorm food was bad? AND that everyone took their silverware with them and when they'd finished eating, wiped them on the tablecloth, pocketed them and brought them back for the next meal.

Update
Life is stranger than fiction. I couldn't make this stuff up. My brother has been in the hospital on dialysis  with liver issues. We just found out last week our ten-month-old grandson had a large tumor on his brain. He had surgery a few days later. We won't have the biopsy report until near the end of the month.  AND...My sweet Belle kitty has cancer.
To quote Forrest Gump, "That's all I have to say about that."
How are you? Are you enjoying the pre-holiday festivities? Got your shopping done?

Weekend Wishes

In spite of the fact it's Friday the 13th.

AND....
Due to unexpected and jolting sickness in the family, I may be offline for a while or I may be in and out or not out for long. At this point, I don't know what to expect. Leave the light on for me.

Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Program

Since we spent Thanksgiving in Philly, here's some Philadelphia facts.  Did you know that Philly had the first volunteer fire department, medical school and library in the colonies? And west of town the first Botanical Garden?

Longwood Gardens is a botanical garden, located in Kennett Square PA. It is over a thousand acres of gardens, fields and woods. If and when you are in the vicinity, I highly recommend a visit.

Have you been to Longwood Gardens? What's your favorite botanical garden?

Preserving the experiences of the past for future generations is important. They will wonder as they peruse the stories how you ever lived without a TV, computer, microwave (or whatever appliance they use in the future.)
The story of your life, the struggles, the joys, the accomplishments, will be what the next generations understand. Your account will be a guide to help them through their own lives.
Start now to put together the stories that make up your life story, a treasured family keepsake.
J.Q.’s Bio--Using her storytelling skills, JQ provides chills and giggles in her published mysteries and information and enrichment in articles featured in books, magazines, newspapers, and online magazines.
J.Q. taught elementary school for several years and never lost the love for teaching passed down from her teacher grandmother and mother. She satisfies that aspect of her character by presenting workshops on Creative Writing and Writing Your Life Story. Her passion is to teach and encourage folks to share their life stories with their family and be an eye witness to history, as well as a guide for future generations.
When J.Q.  isn’t writing, she enjoys photography, playing Pegs and Jokers board games, and traveling with her husband. They spend winters in Florida and summers up north camping and hunting toads, frogs, and salamanders with her four grandsons and granddaughter.
AND...in the spirit of the holiday, J.Q. will be gifting a free copy to a randomly drawn commenter. Drawing for U.S. residents.

IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially IWSG day. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.

Thanks, as always, to Alex Cavanaugh, founder and Ninja Captain extraordinaire and our awesome co-hosts.

The IWSG optional monthly question can be found under the IWSG Sign-up tab on the Insecure Writer's Support Group Blog.

Book Reads

Last month I had the pleasure of a sneak peak at Beverly Stowe McClure's GABE'S GUARDIAN ANGEL. I don't want to give anything away since it's not yet released, though it is available for preorder at Amazon. Just let me say, you are in for a reading treat.

And for another holiday pleasure stop by tomorrow for information on J.Q. Rose's new release, YOUR  LIFE STORY.  You're going to love it. It will make a purrfect gift for those on your Christmas list who are hard to buy for.

Read last month: Indie author Joe Congel's DEADLY PASSION .   This one's for the gumshoe aficionados out there. A great read, with a chilling twist.

Currently reading: Good bud and Queen of Prehistorics, Jacqui Murray's: BORN IN A TREACHEROUS TIME. If you like Xhosa, I recommend that you give Lucy a spin.

Monday-Tuesday

We're back! We spent Thanksgiving in Philly with the baby girl and her husband were the HH got cake #4. 😊 Homemade chocolate with chocolate mousse icing. It was delicious.
As mentioned previously, they recently bought a 1913 row home and are in the middle of remodeling. As you can see the SIL has rebuilt the stairs.
Added a built-in bookcase.
Remodeled the bathroom and powder room.
They have a projector, so the HH was able to watch the Bears Thanksgiving on the wall:)
AND...we had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.
Pictures of Longwood Garden next week. How was your Thanksgiving? Were you home or did you travel?
