Four-Legged Terrorists

If you look closely you can see Captain on the other side of the window.

The monster kitten and the dog got so bad about getting into the  kitchen cabinets we had someone come out and put magnets on the doors.  Then we dry-washed our hands. Problem solved.
Until.......
The HH didn't get the pantry door closed securely.  The next morning when we got up we found paper and food strewn all over the dining room floor. As close as I can tell the cat pried the door open and the dog got on his hind legs and pulled items off the shelf.
My next plan:
Wear the dog out so she wouldn't have the energy or inclination to get in the pantry or whatever else she happened to be poking her nose into at the time.  I started leaving her in the (enclosed) backyard for three hours a day.
Until....
She figured out how to open the door.
Back to square one.
The HH's take: Good thing we didn't have them when the kids were little or they would have given the kids ideas.
Got any four-legged terrorists at your house?

Love that they are working together! My two used to do just the same, we had a hook and eye fastener on the fridge door to keep them out - till they learned how to open that, too. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie

Yup.
Jazz can open the fridge. And he taught Jewel. So our fridge now has a child proof lock on it.
And Jazz tears apart anything he doesn't approve of - like something which takes attention away from him. Books are not safe.

Not me, but our older daughter had a polydactyl cat (Hemingway type with huge paws and an extra 'thumb'. He would help just as you said, by opening the door and the dog would get all the interesting stuff out or off the counter. Those two were definitely a team, and the dog taught the cat to eat whatever you can, just in case. . . I'd separate them at night for sure. We used to keep our curious cat in his own 'suite' with a door during the night, so he couldn't roam around.

The dog I had growing up ate the legs off the coffee table and a hole in the wall behind the couch. I don't think there was any wearing her out.

That is just too funny. I love how they work in tandem. Even in the animal world, four paws are better than two. Love the name of your cat.

haha when they get it in their head away they go. Orlin sure opens everything here.

Our Siberian Thug ate some books yesterday. He destroyed a gorgeous hardback copy of Gloria Whelan's Homeless Bird, a gem of a book that I re-read from time to time. I told him, "Look, Bud, I love you but no-one messes with my books!"

Just one cat who is allowed in the house.

What a pair of stealthy burglars they are! They break-in and they break-out :} Funny to read about...but not so funny to you, I'm pretty sure Sandra :}

Oh wow...they work as a terror team in tandem ...my hubby would be having a conniption fit! I know one thing that might work....get some empty pop cans and place a few pennies in them, tape the opening so the pennies don't fall out and place them around the areas you don't want them to go. The sound will scare them. We have Kaspar, the Disaster who has decided to strip our wood and take off wall paper. Kaspar has done a real number to the wood around the Bedroom opening and I am not too bothered since the wood is cheap but he is trying to do this to the 100 year old wood so we soak him with our water pistol...works wonders. We then play with the little bugger to tire him out

I think hook and eye is the next thing for the porch door...
Hugs back,

One smart kitty. I hate it when they mess with the books.

I love polydactyls.
Separating at night is a good idea.

Funny story!!!! But I didn't have to clean up the mess!!!!

Ha. Good one.

I then may consider myself lucky that mine don't team together. We already have two armchairs chewed at the hand rest and no paper can fall to the floor without being shredded by our dog!

Glad you enjoyed it, Yvonne:)

Oh that's right! Your geese:)

A caper pulled off by cooperation between Dog and Cat. Don't tell them about bank robberies (or maybe you should). The four-legged members of my household are quite well behaved, which hasn't always been true.

Love,
Janie

We tried Tabasco sauce with a dog we used to have to discourage that, but he developed a taste for it:)
Did you have a terrier by any chance, Alex?

Sandra Cox said...

Four paws better than two. I love it and so true.

Sandra Cox said...

Pat, Isn't that the truth?
Orlin's a smart kitty, I bet he does figure out how to get into things.

Marcie, Oh dear. I hate it when they destroy books. This one destroyed my kindle.

Sandra Cox said...

Doesn't sound like you have any four legged terrorists at your house, Jamie:)

Sandra Cox said...

Stealth burglars indeed.
They are challenging:)

Sandra Cox said...

I like your pop cans plan, only problem is they would be littered all over the house:)
Yikes on the 100 year old wood.

Sandra Cox said...

We'll have a moment of silence for your armchairs....
Both critters destroy paper too and leave it all over the floor.

Sandra Cox said...

Hi Janie,
I'm envious of well-behaved:)

Our cat Hobbes could open doors. She was too smart for her own good.

OMG - This story is so fun! To be a fly on the wall in your house. (lol)

Thankfully no .... but reading this it did make me laugh!!!

All the best Jan

Oh, I am MOST amused! I have a four legged terrorist who periodically thinks outside the box. Not so good! I was really chuckling!

When my dog was still alive, she was fairly good about not destroying stuff.

No pets inside at my home.

My goodness, you will have to teach them good manners...funny really.

Bleubeard and Elizabeth said...

Bleubeard can open the back screen door, which closes with a hook and eye. I finally had to put a bungee cord between it and the bar that goes across the bottom of the screen. Now he jumps up, but doesn't get anywhere.

I have terrorists, too. Yesterday Squiggles knocked over an antique plant stand that I had a rocking horse on. Part of the rocking horse came loose, but I was able to fix it quickly. Leave them to their own devices, and they will amaze you at the trouble they can get into.

Lee said...

Yep...two!! :)

Birgit said...

Yes, the cans would be everywhere for a little while and slowly you can take them away. I would keep one, later on, and shake it if I saw my Katie try to go near the counter.

Sandra Cox said...

LOL. And yours:)

Sandra Cox said...

Not a bad game plan. I'd love to have the dog outside....

Sandra Cox said...

Isn't that the truth? It's like you correct one issue and they move on to another.

Sandra Cox said...

Grin:)

Sandra Cox said...

Ha. You'd probably need to put your fingers in your ears...

Sandra Cox said...

:) They're a mess.

Sandra Cox said...

It would be a wonderful thing if that lesson took, M-w:)

Sandra Cox said...

Sounds like she was a good dog, Adam.

They're always up to something.
