The Good, The Bad, And....

The Good:
We  signed up to take part in a senior flu shot study. It was a pleasant surprise to get a card telling us that for everyone that was taking part in the study, a child in a poor country would receive a life-saving vaccine in our honor.

The Bad:
Somehow my keyless car entry came loose and fell off in the garage where it was promptly run over. The cost to replace it...just let me say OUCH. Gone are the days of getting a spare car key made for a buck or two.

Furniture Protection from Pets:
Do you ever have problems with the cats scratching your furniture? My cats are usually pretty good about using their scratching pads, but Frank figured out that scratching the couch was a great way to push my buttons. Was he doing it on purpose? Oh definitely. He'd scratch, look at me and wait for my reaction. I saw this cover on Amazon and was skeptical but decided to try it. Surprisingly, it works. This is our secondary couch. It basically gets used when we have company, at which time we take off the cover. I'm not sure I'd want it on a piece of furniture I used daily. If you are interested, you can find it on Amazon or better yet Smile Amazon where they donate to the charity of your choice.
AND....
A shoutout to my ninety year old aunt who faithfully reads this blog. Have a great day, Norma:)
AND.....
Raindrops on roses...and mums.

AND....
What's wrong with this picture?
The only way I get my overweight cat to exercise is to throw treats for her to chase.

Hooray for the good.
Ouch indeed on the keyless entry to your car.
That couch protector is ugly. Sadly our sofa is in daily use. Best wishes to your aunt. Love the rain bejewelled flowers.

Well, if you have to cover the couch, I suppose you have too. I hope it isn't in your main room. Yes, I can see the problem with the way the cat gets exercise.

Fun post today! Love the raindrop photos. I'm not so sure about the covers for the furniture, certainly not if you need to use the things day by day. My old couch was very tatty when my Kitty died, she loved sharpening her claws on it! Sorry about your 'key', that was a bit of hard luck. Good luck to your aunt. Hugs, Valerie

haha the treats may negate the exercise. The cover looks good for spare furniture, but yeah, daily it might be a pain. Sure can't get keys for cheap these days.

When I was growing up, our living room furniture was covered in plastic. It didn't get removed for company. It was an Italian thing. i think I'd exercise for treats too. Have a great day!

My dog loved rubbing her butt on the wall. Luckily it was those hard plaster wall and it was wipe-able.

Oh our animals. My husband's key fob quit working and they wanted over $300. for a new one. Needless to say he had a fit. I tried tin foil over a kitchen cabinet to try to keep cats off. It worked for a day then they sat on it. Donna@gather

I like plump pets.I used a squirt gun for scratching and then set up a pole to show them where to go. they still like to do it just for you

Cats surely can be annoying at times, but how I love them so!

I also love your flower photos, they're absolutely beautiful!

Oh, yikes! Sorry to hear about your keyless car entry. Shame such a tiny thing is so pricey to replace. :/

And oooh...love those flower photos. So pretty!

Kitties sure are drawn to couches for self manicures aren't they?
Hugs received and returned.

My son's cat ruined a fairly new sofa set. the plastic covers (hearkening back to the 50s) are an ideal solution.

Franklin says that Frank is not a name for a cat. My mother always covered the living room furniture with sheets and towels. I was embarrassed to invite my friends into the house. Because the dogs like to nap on the furniture, I put soft throws over the pieces they like the best. I like napping on them, too. Of course, they'd be worthless with a scratching cat.

Love,
Janie

Ideally, after they're redirected, they'll forget about scratching the sofa and the plastic covers can be 'poofed' away:) So sorry about the new sofa set:(

Don't tell Franklin, but Frank gets called Franklin too. Shhh.
We've also had a Chuck and a Bruce:)

On the key fob: yup.
We never had any luck with the foil either.

Sandra Cox said...

Don't give him any ideas, FSG:)

Seems like the smaller the more expensive. Heh.
Glad you like the flowers. Thanks;)

I completely agree on cats, Lon:)
Thank you. Glad you like the flowers.

What pretty pussy cat. Our cat that passed away, Mia, would rarely think of exercise. That has to suck regarding the keys and it costs so much more because it is not a simple key...gotta love technology. That’s nice about the flu shot helping out kids in need but the couch reminds me of Ray Ramone’s mother’s couch. I do know how cats like to..ahem, redecorate. Our beautiful Kaspar, whom my one friend says he looks like Hitler because of the dark fur under his nose, likes to attack our wood. Now, the 70s cheap wood surrounding the door to our bedroom is ugly but I am not that upset but he likes to attack the wood in our 100 year old main part of the home( bedroom is a 1970s addition). I have a squirt gun to squirt him with water which he doesn’t like. He us7ally goes after this wood when he wants attention especially when I am on the phone! He is also scratching my beautiful railing which I found out by getting a sliver in my finger. I bought a spray that is to deter him and it seems to be working. I hope most people go out to vote including the people where it has been made difficult for them to vote. I hope you are well....I am always in pain but not as bad as I was last year....not missing work and I can drive most of the time.

Our animals are doing a number on our wood too. Grrr. The HH is starting to put up some thin plastic over some of the wood.
I hate that you are still in pain but glad it is somewhat better.

Thanks, Yvonne.
I've been thinking about you.
