IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially IWSG day. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.
Thanks, as always, to Alex Cavanaugh, founder and Ninja Captain extraordinaire and our awesome co-hosts.

The September 4th question: If you could pick one place in the world to write your next story where would it be and why?
A beach in Hawaii. I've always wanted to go to Hawaii and watching the ocean frees my mind and soul...as long as the weather is cooperating.

And...
TumbleStar, a western romance, is coming out next month. If you can help with the cover reveal or an early review please jot me a line on the signup on the right. If you are also interested in getting the newsletter once it's up and running, just make note of that too.  Thank you:)

A sneak peak:
I had the honor of looking at two arcs this month. Different genres, but both wonderful reads.

Jacqui Murray's prehistoric novel, is the second in a magnetic trilogy. Why magnetic? The characters stick long after you close the book. If you are interested in this era, it's a must read. You can pre-order Quest at Amazon.

C. Lee McKenzie has written another young adult drama, Not Guilty,  that will grab your interest and hook your heart. It's do out next month. So  keep an eye out for it.

What have you been doing this month? Writing, editing, reading or creating in a different vein?

I too was privileged to read Not Guilty. And loved it. Next month is a tad busy, but I am sure I can help with at least a cover reveal. Send me an email if that suits.

Good to see that there are always new books on their way to us. The world would be a poor place without books and readings. Being able to read and escape from my not very happy surroundings this way really saved me as a child. Hugs, Valerie

I'm not sure what a cover reveal is, but I would love to read something that you wrote at the beach in Hawaii. From everything I've seen, it's a beautiful, albeit expensive place to live. I bet it WOULD free your soul. It sounds like the perfect vacation spot, too!

A new book - how exciting.

If you do head to Hawaii, let me know. My best friend manages a resort on the big island and she can hook you up with a great place to stay.

It's great isn't it, EC?
Thanks so much, EC:)

Right there with ya, Val. I too used books for escapism as a child.

I hope someday I have something to give you that was written in Hawaii. Wouldn't that be grand?

Awesome! Be happy to give you a guest spot when it's released.

Sandra Cox said...

They are both extremely talented. I love their writing. Very different but both write compelling reads.

Thanks, Yvonne. I hope your September is lovely too.

Thanks for the shout out, Sandra. I'm back next month, so be sure to shoot me your cover and I'll post it on the Oct. IWSG. Anything else? Maybe some Facebook exposure? You can let me know.

A lot of books are coming out next month. Yay! Congratulations to everyone with new and upcoming releases!

I'm not sure I could write in Hawaii. I'm afraid I'd be doing the 'tourist' thing, but I think Island Time could be restful and once the tourist stuff was done, I could see writing happening.

Sandra Cox said...

What a lovely offer, Di. If we get the opportunity to go, I'll be sure and get in touch.

And I thought you'd pick a Montana ranch (or Texas). A little bit more to know about you Sandy.

Thanks for the shout out! Whoohoo! Two more days and it moves beyond pre-sale.

The ocean is like brain magic. I'll happily go with you. :)

Best of luck with the new story. I'll be happy to help however I can.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Alex. That would be grand.

Can't say I'd say no to a trip to Hawaii, not sure I'd write in the giant litterbox though lol

Sandra Cox said...

Woo Hoo, Diana. That's great.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Lee. All coverage gratefully accepted.

We thank you on the congrats:)

I've been sketching lately and plan to turn some into finished pieces soon. For writing spots, I'd pick the Scottish Highlands. I've never visited, but my ancestors are supposedly from there. The rocky terrain, Loch Ness, kilts, medieval castles and nature sound like a place rich for writing. 🙂📚✏️

Sandra Cox said...

Oh yeah. Doing the tourist thing would definitely be a distraction:)

Sandra Cox said...

Heh. If given the choice, I'd be a tropical girl,if there were no hurricanes in sight:)I guess I could always wear cowboy boots on the islands:)
Can't wait to see Quest shoot to the top!

Thanks so much, Elizabeth. I'll be in touch.

Well when you put it like that...:)

Love that quote so much! But then, I was a writer/editor for 32 years! (and editing ALWAYS helps!)

I think I'd go to my friend's cottage near Bath where Rick and I stayed last fall. It would be the perfect place to write -- few distractions!

Sandra Cox said...

Hey Sis,
I'm sketching too!
I love the location you picked.I'll pack my bags. When do we leave?
Hugs

That's wonderful, Adam. What genre?

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed:)
Excellent, I'll put you on the list. And since you're my techie guru I may be calling on you when I set it up. Wink. Wink.

Sandra Cox said...

It would, wouldn't it:)
Thank you. I highly recommend Lee McKenzie's and Jacqui Murray's.
