Tuesday

In the backyard:
Wild strawberries are interspersed in the grass.
The daylilies are blooming.

And the brown-eyed Susans

The monarda (bad hair day flowers:)
 The Asiatic jasmine
And the sedum.

This little hydrangea is having a problem deciding what color he prefers his blooms to be.
Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal were quite insistent on building in the butterfly bush. Can you see the nest?
I'm afraid Frank will have to be under house arrest in a few weeks, for a few weeks:)
Addendum: Since I wrote this post, Cool Hand Frank turned his attention from outsmarting the warden (the HH) and making a break for it to the bird's nest, which he's effectively destroyed. I'm both saddened and relieved. Relieved that cat insurance was not necessary and no lives were lost. Mr. Cardinal is not taking it at all well. Hanging on the fence above his nest and complaining. I suspect that the Mrs. left him for (in her mind) a better provider and that this is the source of his complaints. Fickle, I know, but Mrs. Cardinal had to do, what Mrs. Cardinal had to do. Hopefully, Mr. Cardinal will find a better and safer neighborhood.
Addendum to the Addendum: The little guy hung around all day and into the evening. He looked pretty lost. I've heard they mate for life or until something happens to their mate.  I haven't seen him today so I'm going on the assumption he found the missus or is online (phone line perhaps) looking for a new mate.

My Mother's Day gifts from my son and his family arrived last week. A coffee cup with a picture of my sweet Belle on it, which I treasure.
AND...While I loved getting this, I did get a chuckle out of it. Just what every mom needs during COVID-19.

AND

How was your weekend and your Monday? What's growing in your garden? Got birds nests? Got toilet paper?

I would LOVE to spend time in your beautiful garden.
I hope that Mr and Mrs Cardinal have reunited and are building a condo in a much safer spot.
Your gifts are brilliant, and a very happy birthday to Birgit.

Wild strawberries don't sound like they are especially edible. Your flowers are nice and what an amusing read about the cardinals.

That's a lot of flowers.
Sorry Frank got the nest but at least he didn't kill baby birds.

I love your mug.

Poor birds. They shouldn't have built it so low to the ground though.

Beautiful flowers. Your garden must be the envy of your neighbors. You can control the color of the hydrangea. Acidic soil = blue. My hair looks like the monarda. That made me laugh. Poor cardinals hopefully, there's still time to build another nest. They usually have 2 clutches during the season. Take care and enjoy your day

Beautiful flowers, Sandra. I can almost smell the jasmine!Love your mug and TP;) We always have issues where the loud blue jays try to build nests, but I discouraged a front porch nest to which they loudly protested. They finally choose a safe cedar. Hope Mr. Cardinal found a better place to nest build.

I trust Mr. Cardinal is safe and has reunited with the Mrs. Maybe she just went to a birdie spa and forgot to tell him. I am relieved they're no longer hanging out in the butterfly bush.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Thank you, Andrew:) Smiling.
I've never tried to eat one of the wild strawberries but I love to see them in the yard. They're so pretty.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Natalia. I've never tried the strawberries. Mine are so tiny.

Sandra Cox said...

Heh. I got a laugh myself when I opened the box. We are set for awhile:)

That was my thoughts too, Alex. Though, I felt bad, Mr. took it so hard.

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed. At one point, I saw Frank setting in the nest. Maybe he was trying to babysit....

Pity about the cardinal nest but yes, probably better now than when there were babies and eggs. The flowers are just splendid. My berries are still the little hard greenish yellow bits -- give it another three weeks. I can't wait.

Love the beautiful Belle mug. That must mean so very much.

Thanks, CJ:)
We must have acidic soil. For the most part the hydrangeas are blue or purple.
I'm sure your hair is every bit as cute as the monarda.

Enjoy your special day, even though you had to work, my friend. Sound like the hubby's gifts were spot on.

I was surprised the garden bloomed too after as you say the crazed weather. So there is still hope.
After Frank destroyed the nest, he sat in what was left of it. Why? I have no idea.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Denise!
Good on you for encouraging the jays to a safer housing division:)

I trust Mr. and Mrs. have reunited and found a new and safer subdivision to build in.
Thank you, I do love my Sweet Belle mug.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
