Did You Know

Did you know,  President Theodore Roosevelt was an insatiable reader that read one to three books a day?

Good for him! I rarely manage more than one a day! Hugs, Valerie

Wow, even I don't get that many in one day :)

Where did he find the time? And hooray for insatiable readers.

He must have been a speed reader. That's a great trivia fact, too.

Impressive, I love to read too!

I wish your current president would read three books a day and stay out of the way of good governance.

I'd settle for him reading his daily briefings.

One a day is huge!

And he ran the country. Whew.

Interesting, wow.

I don't read as much as I used to. I tend to "see" novels on television. Thinking about Teddy. Well, he had plenty of time to read as he probably didn't have to wash clothes, cook, clean house, take care of children, mow the lawn, run errands... 😉

Good for him. I think he would've been a fascinating person to talk to. "Speak softly and carry a big stick" - I love that motto.

You sound like my sister:)

I agree completely, Di.

Yes I did! I watched a great documentary about the Roosevelts that I think was done by..by...damn that great guy that looks still like. Little boy but he is brilliant.

I didn’t. Wow.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes and yes. My understanding is he did a lot of skimming and hit the highlights.

Sandra Cox said...

I believe he was.

Sandra Cox said...

Me too, Natalia:)

AND a big good on you for reading:)

And he read in several different languages. He was a smart man.

Pretty amazing! One a week is hard to do:)

If I read one book a week I'd consider myself to be almost insatiable. There have been times in my life when I'd read a lot. Unfortunately I haven't been in one of those times of late which seems odd since in reality I have a lot of time on my hands these days.

I have a blogging friend at wordpress who reads three books at a time; not in one day, but..... I would have trouble doing that, especially if they were all fiction ~~~ ☺☺☺♥♥♥

Sandra Cox said...

Yes, that would be tough. Though that's how I write. I usually have three going.

Sandra Cox said...

Sounds like an intriguing documentary. Unsure about who documented it.

Sandra Cox said...

Agreed. Wow.

Sandra Cox said...

I hear ya on that:)

One book a week is good for me too these days. I used to always have my nose in a book. Then I started writing;)

Hi Sandra, interesting tidbit. Three books a day that is quite and undertaking. I have decided to read one of your books. Which one do you recommend for me to read? I have the Flowers and Gardens.

Birgit said...

It was 9 episodes each 2 hours in length so it went very much in depth..Aha! Ken Burns..That's the name I was looking for. I can honestly say that if he made a documentary about paint drying, I would watch it.

Sandra Cox said...

It's a stunner, isn't it?

Sandra Cox said...

I'm guessing better than I:)

Sandra Cox said...

Oh yes:)

Sandra Cox said...

Three books a day would be huge wouldn't it?
How lovely to hear that you have FLOWER GARDENS.
AND how kind to express interest in buying another. My recommendation would be MATEO'S LAW.

When did he find time to work...to eat (I suppose, he could have read while eating...although we were always told it was bad manners to do so)...when did he find time to sleep?

Sandra Cox said...

Good questions. I sure couldn't and get anything else done.
