This and That Tuesday

 Tuesday's funny-

We got married on Christmas Eve and every year the HH gets me a Christmas ornament.  This year he ordered online. When he received it, he was a bit surprised at the amount of skin the little fairy was showing and immediately dubbed her The Hookup Fairy. 😁

AND

Did you see where scientists have come up with  a carbon alternative to plastic? This will hopefully be better for us and most definitely better for the planet.

AND

Trying to bloom:

The hydrangea.

Another Iris.

The Christmas Rose.

AND

We gave the bushes their winter haircuts today. This is what was left of the roses.

What about you, thinking about Christmas or putting that on hold till after Thanksgiving? Cut back your garden yet? Seen anything about the plastic alternative?

What a great anniversary gift...even if this year's is a bit on the trampy side. LOL

I've cut back my roses. I can't decide if I want to cut back the hydrangeas. I might think them instead of cutting them all the way back.

I am soooo not ready to think about Christmas - but have put the fruit for the first batch of cakes in to soak.
Love your newest ornament. I am pretty sure that there is a hookup fairy - though her judgement is not to be relied on.
Love your garden too.

Bad hydrangea. Not the time to bloom.
Hook Up Fairy looks quite large.

I came back from my 15 minutes and came across this. I'd just love to be a fly on the wall to hear just one of your dinner conversations which I know would be totally fun and outrageous. Clearly you both have the same type of humor and has made my day.Yes!!!! I adore the flowers, but I'll be thinking of Christmas Eve in a whole new way now(lol!) Happy Tuesday and Hugs, RO

Hubby is pretty romantic too! Is that a book or DVD library I spy? Either way, it makes me want to be a houseguest even more, Super Sandra(lol) RO

You hooked up on Christmas, so she fits.
Hopefully the plastic alternative is better than paper straws because those things are awful.

I actually like the punk fairy. At least she is not sitting on a lamppost:). If you go to the One of a Kind Christmas Show, they are going virtual and there is a couple who make some beautiful fairies. I will see if I can find them and provide the link. The face on this fairy is excellent and I love the colouring. She needs a special spot, maybe near a red light. Ok that is the last joke. I haven’t heard about that new plastic but that sounds great! My hubby placed garbage bags on top of the spring flowers because they were beginning to pop up. It is wild weather. Last week we had September like weather, one day close to 80F. In one day it went down to 45 F. Now we are looking at snow for tomorrow but then go back up to 62F...and then back down again...ughhh. This past Sunday it was wild weather, all day rain and extremely windy causing a lot of damage all over the Niagara Region, Toronto and everywhere.

What an awesome tradition. You are lucky to have so much growing in your garden. It's getting too cold for that here.

I LOVE the hook-up fairy. That's a great tradition. I'm very impressed by your early hydrangea bud! I hope it stays.

Wow, what a cute hook-up fairy. I bet she'll still find a place on your tree this year.

You live in such a different climate from me. We've had hard freezes, ice, and snow and I have practically NOTHING to show out side. It's amazing how you still had roses and an iris about to bloom. Amazing.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes, she will:)
I remember when we lived in IL and WI. Brrr. Our blood has thinned too much to go back to the Midwest now.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, D.L. We were actually third generation to get married on Christmas Eve.

Getting married on Christmas Eve - sounds like a Hallmark Christmas movie. I think you have the makings of an anniversary Christmas tree.

Enjoyed your post!

Wait--don't you need a tree for an ornament? I stopped doing that a few years ago.

Christine said...

I didn't hear about this plastic alternative, wonderful! Lovely ornament for your anniversary.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Val.
It's getting chilly. I'm afraid the Iris may have waited a bit too long.

Sandra Cox said...

And speaking of hydrangeas:) Do you get black spots on yours and what do you do about it?

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed and yes, she's pretty good size.

Sandra Cox said...

Yay for getting your fifteen minutes in.
Our conversations might make you clap your hands over your ears. Lots of political discussion and grumbling:)
Hugs received and returned.

Unfortunately, I don't have high hopes for the hydrangea.
Take special care.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes. I'm thrilled about the alternative.
Thanks, Christine:)

Sandra Cox said...

That takes the pressure off. My sister doesn't put one up either.

Sandra Cox said...

Heh. Indeed.
