Did You Know

Did you know, there was a study done showing that cats not only sit in boxes but will sit in an optical illusion of a square as well?

*Read the article here.

Thanks for sharing, Shane.

My cat that we had years ago sat in boxes but I didn't know about the optical illusion theory, very interesting.
Have a good day Sandra.
Yvonne.

Interesting isn't it. Many years ago we had a rather nasty cat who would love to sit in boxes or hide somewhere and jump out and scratch our ankles. We certainly knew it if she was unhappy about something and our punishment for once putting her in a cattery while we took a holiday was extreme. I will go for the box to hide in to surprise their prey.

I am not surprised. 'Big' cats are equally fond of boxes. Jazz (just to be different) doesn't like them at all.

Haha, I'm not surprised either. 😏🤷‍♂️ But I love cats soooo much!! 🖤🤎💛

They love their boxes, don't they, Yvonne?
The optical illusion was a surprise.

And you being the prey:)

I've seen that information before and thought it was interesting. Our cat of long ago, Milhous, saw a picture of a "spinner" used to advance in a board game on the box the game came in. He put his paw on the picture and tried to spin it, which he did first with the actual spinner. I don't know if that makes any sense.

Love,
Janie

Bleubeard will sit in a box, but Squiggles avoids them. He prefers a large paper bag that he can hide in. I enjoyed the article, though. Sounds like a nicely controlled experiment, too.

That is fascinating. Smart kitty!

Fascinating wasn't it, dear Elizabeth?
It's also fun that one of your kitties prefers a box and the other a bag:)

Let us know how it goes when you do, Jeanie:)

They do indeed, Jan:)

My cat just had to sit on something. The whole floor could be clear but he'd sit on my discarded newspaper or slipper.

Wow! That's fascinating info, and quite surprising. Hope you're having an amazing weekend! Hugs, RO

That's interesting. I don't know a lot about cats, probably because I'm a dog person. I think cats can sense that I'm a dog person because they always hiss at me. 🤷‍♀️
