All things western and more.
Did you know, legend has it that Native American warriors carved desert roses when they returned from the spirit world?
*Desert roses are crystal clusters of baryte or gypsum that include sand grains and are shaped like roses.
I must once again confess my ignorance! But it's a lovely thought! Hugs, Valerie
Agreed. It is a lovely thought, isn't it, Val?Hugs received and returned.
I didn't. I do love desert roses though. They are fragile and lovely things.
I've only seen pictures of them. I'd love to have one.
I need to find a gem store or go online.
I have a desert rose, but had no idea about that legend. Mine is about 3 inches in diameter and reminds me of a deformed ball. It is very delicate.
How cool that you have one.
I had to go look up desert rose. A fun Jeopardy fact for today
Glad you liked it, CJ:)
I also had to look up desert roses.
Aren't they fascinating?
I had to look this up and I have a couple of small ones that my mom had for her nativity scene which I now use. I had no idea that the Native Americans(I wonder which tribe?) had that as their folklore. I find that beautiful to be honest.
I am not sure but it's also called the Cherokee Rose and there's a legend revolving around it and the Trail of Tears.
Glad you think so, Christine.
I didn't know, but I like this :)
