Did You Know

Did you know, Ben Franklin bequeathed Philadelphia and Boston $2000 each with the codicil  it was not to be used for a hundred years or distributed for two hundred. The money to be loaned to and invested in  young  tradesmen and apprentices.

*Thanks to EC for today's history trivia.

Isn't it brilliant? I do hope it is true and that people continue to benefit from the accrued interest.

That was a great idea. Have a wonderful day, hugs, Valerie

My poor knowledge of American history will now send me to check when Franklin died. I hope the money was wisely invested.

Hi Sandra and EC - yes a brilliant idea ... clever too - let's hope it's advanced many tradesmen's entrepreneurships. Cheers Hilary

Wow,...If he gave this around 1760, the $2,000, in today's dollars would be $71,842. I hope it went to the right place.

It's definitely true, though there's been mismanagement of the funds.
Thanks for sharing:) That was a fun, uplifting fact.

Only Ben Franklin would think of that:)
