It's Tuesday

 Greetings Blogger Buds,

Hope your weekend and Monday were excellent.

Weather

So Monday we woke up to this.

The chunk of ice on the ground was from the bird bath that was frozen nearly solid.

This is my second rain gauge. It never dawned on me to empty it in cold weather. I figured that out after I woke one morning to find the gauge in pieces on the ground along with the ice.  So, I started to empty this one and as you can see the ice has formed all along the sides and frozen it in place.  So far, it's still in one piece.....

Weekend with the fam

We went in to see the kiddos and their parents this weekend. It never ceases to amaze me the activities that are now available for kids. We took the kids to the Painted Peacock to paint ceramics. Back in the day painting ceramics was strictly for adults, but now its geared to a much younger market and as you can see, the kids love it.

ALSO

We went grocery shopping. Sigh.  Buying canned cat food is getting harder and harder and appears to now be leaking into dog food. Produce is still an issue. What about you. Any grocery issues on your end?

Got ice? Ceramics? Cat food? Produce?

Tuesdays are fast turning into my lazy mornings - tea and blogs before taking the dog for a walk :-)

No ice here, it's quite warm, but I think that's changing later in the month. Shelves in shops are randomly bare. My baker friend is struggling to buy yeast and salt!!

Have a great day x

Our supermarket shelves are looking sad. And Jazz is (of course) a VERY fussy eater. Big sigh.
No ice here though. None, nada, zip.
Glad you had a weekend with the family.

No ice here, of course. 'Supply chains' have improved here and supermarket shelves are fine.

Hi Sandra - glad you had a happy weekend ... supermarket life is 'vague' - thankfully I don't worry re requirements - I'll make a plan - comes of being a post-war baby I guess - one ate what one was given ... I'm eternally grateful it's not freezing here! Cheers Hilary

A few years ago, I forgot all about the rain gauge and it broke during the Winter. I've been having a hard time finding cans of food for the kitties, too. I have a monthly order through Petco, but miscalculated the number of cans needed. The monthly order will ship Thurs. but I only have enough cans for today or tomorrow. I suppose I'll have to check area grocery stores. Fortunately, the kitties are not fussy about food.

Sounds like you had a fun time with your grandkids. Our grocery shelves are empty in spots too.

Glad we didn't get that ice.
So far, not many shortages here.

Wow -- that's a lot of ice. I don't have a rain guage but I wouldn't have thought to empty it, either. Ice is awful -- so beautiful but one false move and ouch! I'm glad you had fun with the kids (we did the same this weekend). They're adorable!

Congrats to E!

You got a bit of an ice storm. We got another foot of snow but before that it rained and then went to ice. My hubby brings in our bird baths because of what you experienced. That is so nice to celebrate a day with the grandkids and her creative artwork is excellent. Yes, grocery shopping..yippee. I’m seeing shortages in Habitant soup and some other stuff. Now waiting for prices to go up, we have noticed that when the item comes back, the box or can is smaller but the price is more.

We have several outdoor fountains that we bring in during the winter so they don't freeze and crack.

The pictures of the ice look chilly for you and your plants! Our cement bird baths survive the winter but I have to bring in my glass one. Love the fam pictures, and it looks like a ton of fun to make ceramics! What a fun weekend for all :) The shelves have been slim of canned cat food, been taking what they have. Now ordering it online both cat and dog. Not sure what its an issue. Xoxo

No real ice but the dog's water bowl had a bad freeze a few mornings ago. I was glad he slept inside that night

Tuesday mornings sound lovely:)
No yeast or salt for a baker. That's a tough one.
YOU have a great one.

Of course, on the fussy eating. And I echo that sigh.
Glad you don't have ice.
YOU take special care.

Nothing like ice and snow! Gr-kids must enjoy outdoors. We may not.

Whew. Glad to hear you aren't having any supply issues in the grocery stores.

That's great they aren't picky. Good on you for having a monthly order. I hope this situation gets squared away soon.

It was good spending time with them.
Won't it be great when stocking in the grocery stores is back to normal?

Sandra Cox said...

You are in a good area for sure, Alex. No shortages and you don't seem to have weather issues either.

Ice is awful, isn't it, Jeanie?
Glad you had fun with your grands;)
Thanks.

Ack. A foot of snow on ice. I don't like the sounds of that. Please be careful when you are outside.
You are so right about the prices going up and the sizes getting smaller.

Good thinking;)

The ceramics shop was a ton of fun.
I may have to go to online ordering of cat food too.

Ice and over a foot of snow. Ack.
Life sounds pretty much the same there as here, minus the snow, of course:)

Sandra Cox said...

I'm sure he was too;)

Luckily for us, our ice and snow didn't hang around. It's a beautiful 58 outside today. What's it like there?

Thank you. Sending you a hug,

About all I can say is how late I am visiting. I hope you see this. We got snow, no ice. Sorry about your rain gage.

Those young ones look like they were having fun. Ceramics is not something I have ever made, so those youngsters were quite brave.
