Writerly Wednesday AND Did You Know Thursday

What's your synonym, meaning or sentence for:

 Example:

Let's have a hootenanny. You can play the  fiddle, I'll play guitar  and the guests can dance.

 AND

Did you know, the now extinct colossus penguin was as tall as LeBron James?

I haven't seen hootenanny in a long time. I would probably use shindig instead because I wouldn't think of hootenanny, but hootenanny it's a fun word.

Janie

I am with Janie: That was one BIG penguin. Which makes me wonder how big its predators were...

That would be a scary penguin.
Knees up. Let's get together for a knees up.

PS I've always thought of hootenanny as a hillbilly kind of get together.

A penguin of that size would be quite a hit at a hootenanny. The fiddler would play whatever tune he asked for!

I went to parochial school for 8 years. The penguins weren't as tall as the colossus penguin, but they played the ruler with a mean wallop. 🤣

What a penguin!

Andrew, I had to look up knees up. Great synonym.
AND it's definitely a colloquialism.

That would be one very tall penguin. Wonder if tRump would add an extra tax because of his height.

Hootenanny: a southern hoedown.

I love a good hootenanny! That penguin looks a lot like a flamingo!

Sandra Cox said...

David, LOL. Indeed.

CJ, Snort. You are so funny.

Sandra Cox said...

Jeanie, Ha. That's because it is. Mr. Flamingo is a commentator:)

Sandra Cox said...

Christine, I'll say.

J.P. Sending you hugs

Ha;) Good question:)

Elizabeth, It would be tall indeed.
Good job on knowing hootenanny.
