I don't know the word but its seems appropriate to use at Christmas.
With plenty of spirits in the mix, I am sure the cake would have kept for a number of years.

Oh I have an abundance of belly cheer and I wish it was gone….i feel I have a ripple effect. Funny, after my dad passed away , in 1988, I went through all his suits and, in one pocket, I found the mini fruitcake that used to be given out at weddings. It was all wrapped up with the tag saying Ted and ? July 12, 1978. Our neighbour got married. I don’t remember her name nor the exact date except the year. 10 yrs had passed, the marriage was done but that fruitcake was as moist as if it was the day after and no mold! Hahahaaa…I was tempted to try it, but, thankfully, I did not:))

Shortly, we will be leaving to visit my daughter, and there is guaranteed to be lots of bellycheer there. It is standard for our visits, the food will be terrific, the wine will flow, the laughter resound, with walks in the snow and stargazing at night. The only thing missing will be you, Sandra. Be sure to be there next year!

I like fruitcake but no one else does so I never get to eat it. Sigh.
