Fascinating.

I can't say I am pluviophile. I like rain at night, not to hinder my day time activities.

I knew peonies can live to be quite old, but I didn't know to that old.

Hi Sandra - peonies ... one of my favourite plants and flowers. I've had enough cold pluviophile ... could do with some yellow sun! Cheers but enjoy your warm bathing rain ... Hilary

While I don’t mind rain; in fact I enjoy gentle rain, I wouldn’t call myself a pluviophile. Now that might be quite different for the peonies in the garden who have aspirations of living to a hundred. They need that life-giving moisture. It should be a project in towns and cities around the world to plant a peony now and have it monitored for a hundred years, in the same way they seal time capsules and open them a hundred years later. The thing is, I don’t think humans will be around in a hundred years. Between nuclear weapons and climate crisis we will obliterate ourselves. The peonies will probably survive though.

I certainly won't call myself a pluviophile. I can only take so much rain. As another commenter said, I don't mind it at night. But it can get in the way of some activities during the day.

I didn't know that about peonies

That's why the sound of rain can put so many people to sleep. A lot of Brits, Scots and Irish might be plubiophiles...lol I don't mind a nice rain. It cleans things up.
I dod not know that about the peonies...my hubby ripped mine out last year...the whole fence debacle.

I'm with you, Jeannie:)

Denise, Rain is good, especially when you are in front of a warm fireplace reading. My only problem with peonies is they draw ants.

Sending you hugs, JP.

I like that thought, Andrew. Rain at night so not to hinder activities. Peonies must be like me...around since the dinosaurs. Heh.

Sandra Cox said...

Hey Hils. I love peonies. I don't grow them because they drawn ants and there's already a gazillion in this area.
Hope you are feeling healthy and rested.

Hi Birgit, Rain is lovely to sleep to, isn't it? We'll have a moment of silence for your peonies.

Sandra Cox said...

Well done, as always, David. Though, I fear you may be right about Nukes and climate crisis.

Sandra Cox said...

That is purrfect weather, isn't it, Jamie? Rain at night. Sunshine during the day.
