How are you? Is your week going well?
Here, there's a lot going on in the garden.
I went outside the other day and saw this:
That little dark spot beneath the tree is another baby Fox Sparrow. I went back in the house, came back out and he was gone. I went over and there he was under the grapevine, griping at me the whole time I was weeding, so I gave up and went to the flower area and started weeding again and he followed me over and started griping at me again...or so I thought. Turns out there's two of them. One is shy and one's an explorer. Hops all over the yard, following mom, falls down between the bricks then hops out. Then tries to hop up on the little fences I have around some of the flowers but no can do. Their wings are really short and again they have stubs for tails. They literally keep their parents hopping. In fact, the explorer may have popped under the fence. I haven't seen him today. I think I MAY have seen the original Baby all grown up. It was a fully developed young Fox Sparrow, but it still had a spot of gray on his wing. The Robin is also nesting again, or another, very near the old nest. We've got frogs, chipmunks, squirrels and, of course, birds. Never a dull moment in the garden. Much entertainment for the cats on the porch.
AND
My brother, who lives in FL, encountered this guy on his bike ride the other day.
AND
Last but not least.
That's it for me, Blogger Buds. Ketch me up on you.

Oh, alligator. Not as dangerous as a crocodile, but still.
Your garden plants are looking great.
It must be fun to have birds monitoring your garden efforts.
Happy birthday Birgit!
I'm surprised cats haven't gotten the baby birds if they are hopping around on the ground.
You have such a beautiful garden, Sandra :) I love watching the bird families. We have a frog that lives in our little water fountain by our front door. It implies his call. Been weeding here too and moved the fairy land to bigger spot. Xo
Happy Birthday 🎂 Birgit. Your garden is gorgeous, Sandra. Alligators and crocodiles 🐊 are thankfully creatures I never see here in Montreal.
Mando un beso a la cumpleañera y a ti tambien.
Hi Andrew, I don't want any close ups of either:)
It is fun with the birds, as long as they don't monitor my blackberries too closely. Heh.
Hi Alex, The cats aren't allowed out anymore for just that reason.
Thanks, Denise. Yes, watching the birds is a hoot and brings much joy. Moving your fairy land sounds like quite the job.
Don't you love weeding? Cough. Cough. Hack. Hack. xo
Your garden is looking great. Your hostas are in better shape than mine. And Frank is ever vigilant. What a fun post.
Happy Birthday Birgit.
Thanks, Linda. That's a definite plus for living in Montreal:)
Thank you, JP:) Sending you a hug.
Thanks, Elizabeth. Glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely, colorful flowers. I wouldn't want to encounter that nasty thing on the ground on a bike ride or any other mode of trasportation.
Love,
Janie
Those baby birds may be in mortal danger from the cats. I hope you can keep the two apart.
Golly, I hope Frank and all stay on the porch. Is it enclosed? I worry about Bird Babies! Your garden is looking just wonderful! Happy week!
I enjoyed your description of the Fox Sparrow. I have probably seen them from time to time but just called them sparrows. Your garden is so lush. I think I'd be nibbling the raspberries off the vine. Frank looks very chill. Enjoy your day!
Thanks, Janie:) Yup, a gator wouldn't be my first choice for an encounter either:) Do you have any in your area?
David, No danger from cats as long as they stay in the fenced in yard. The cats aren't allowed outside anymore.
Happy week to you too, Jeanie. And yes, the porch is enclosed.
Hey CJ, You probably have seen them. They are a foxy color and larger than the average sparrow. I pull off a handful as they ripen:) I should let them ripen longer, but the birds will beat me to them if I do:)
Hope you are enjoying your day:)
Nice to see your garden plants.
So pleased it wasn't me spotting that gator ... but thankfully we don't have them in my part of the world.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan. Uh yeah, I'm glad 'gators aren't in this area either:)
