Have you seen this? We rented it last weekend. I hadn't heard dazzling reviews, so I went into it with low to no expectations. The movies I expect nothing from often turn out to be the best. This was no exception. I found it riveting. As always, Hanks did an excellent job. The first few minutes, my mind wandered. But the moment Hanks, as Phillips, stepped onto the ship that changed. The movie grabbed me and didn't let go till the end.Barkhad Abdi was extremely believable, even likeable, as a Somali pirate. What did you think of it?

I'm not a fan of Tom's wimpy style of acting so I avoided it :)
I saw the trailer at the theatre and thought it looked good then. It is still on my Want To Watch List.
Haven't seen it yet. Want to. the movie trailer looked good, and I like Tom Hanks. Have to check to see if its made the pay-per-view line-up
I found the movie intense and was in tears by the end. A great movie.

I saw it a few weeks ago, and you're right, Hanks did an excellent job. Barkhad Abdi who played the pirate captain was from Somali. His family moved to Minneapolis before the wars there broke out. I believe he is up for an Academy Award, and this was his first film!
