Furrever Family
Isn't this guy a handsome fellow? He belongs to the couple who was hosting a couples shower for my daughter and her fiance. He'd plop down in front of you and when you held out your hand he'd shake. Then look at you with soulful eyes waiting for his treat, which consisted of either fresh radish slices or carrot slices. He loved them. This boy is about ten years old and a pit mix. Pits are outlawed in England. One of his human parents is American, the other is British (the husband). The husband wants to move back to Britain. Given the laws against pits, the couple has decided to stay in America as long as the dog lives. When he passes, they'll move back. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all pet parents were that engaged?

They should be. Pets aren't animals, they are family. And once you bring one into the house, it's your responsibility to take care of that family member until the day he dies.
What Alex said. Too many people just treat them like furniture.
That's commendable of them. And he's cute, for a dog
(-; Though I do love his bowtie.
This is a wonderful story and they deserve a gold paw award for this. Pit bulls are outlawed in Canada as well. Yes there are some dog breeds that have territory issues etc... but the major issues of dangerous dogs lies with the humans not the animals. I knew one jerk when I was young who made a collie viscous. I found out Pitbulls were considered the Nanny dogs because they were so gentle with babies and would stick near them that many higher end couples in the 1800's got pitbulls for their children because they were so gentle!
Sometimes I think they treat their furniture better, Pat. I hear ghastly stories.
He first wore the bow tie at their wedding:)
Nice to hear good stories instead of the other kind where animals are concerned isn't it?
I did not know about the nanny thing. Considering their reputation that is very interesting.
I love my dog and can't imagine moving anywhere without him! Great post!

It would be wonderful if all pet parents were that caring.
You sound like a wonderful pet mom, Jess.
It would indeed, Ivy.
