Wondering what your favorite author makes? If you are curious and haven't already checked it out, just follow the link..

I'd find myself thinking, After those books and movies you are only worth that? Then of
course I seriously had to head-slap myself.
Some of those folks weren't exactly who I expected to find on the top fifty authors list.
Except for one or two authors whose work I occasionally like but don't read avidly (Rowling, for instance, and a couple of mystery writers) most of my favorite authors were not on that list. How about you?
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of Roberts, Collins and Meyer. But there's some other folks I read regularly that weren't on the list.
Deleteyes, haven't even heard of some of them :) Didn't know Coelho is so rich... I thought he was a modest man :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe he still is.......
DeleteMany of my favourites aren't there either. Mind you, I wonder how high up that list Bill Watterson would be placed if he hadn't stepped away from Calvin And Hobbes. Sob. I would happily add to his net worth...
ReplyDeleteI wonder why he did. Calvin and Hobbes had a huge following.
DeleteWe don't do it for the money, that's for sure. Besides, some things can't be measured in monetary wealth.
ReplyDeleteBoy that's for sure. Though, it would be a nice fringe benefit. grin.
DeleteJim Davis!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say, "I have a lot to work to do to catch up with that!", but I don't necessarily write for the money. That was apparent in the interview with the temp agency when she kept asking how much money I made on my books. I haven't self published in four years (school, two jobs, life - but I did write, I just never published them... that's changing soon) and I mentioned this fact to her; I mentioned I'm working on a poetry book. She exclaimed how could I make money by writing?! I just said, "Look, I don't do it for the money.I do it because I enjoy it and I like sharing my ideas with people. I like to see the joy when people pick up my book." I donate my books to the library I work for, so I can see some reactions. Alex is right - some things can't be measured in monetary wealth.
That's great you donate your books to your library, Jessica Marie.
DeleteIf it were just about the money, I'm afraid the unemployment lines would swell. grin.
Hi, dear Sandra!
ReplyDeleteBeing a rich socialite is a great job... if you can find it. :)
I noticed that Jackie Collins is high on the list. As you might have heard, she died three days ago.
Have a fine Tuesday, dear friend Sandra!
Yes I had. RIP to Ms. Collins. Cancer? Or am I misremembering?
Deleteyup...breast cancer
DeleteAllison DuBois is the woman the show Medium was based on. She got the show because Kelsey Grammar's wife (at the time) was a friend of hers and the wife suggested they do a show based on her life. It wasn't based on it at all...but people don't really read the facts behind her "claims." They think what they see on Medium is the true story--that Allison DuBois goes to bed and dreams about crimes being committed, then rushes out and solves them. And now she's worth $200 million! She's turned down challenges to test her abilities publicly.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine? Shaking head.
DeleteEven if I dreamed of crimes, I wouldn't remember them in the morning. I know I've had some good story lines rattling around in the middle of the night. grin.
I excepted Stan Lee to have more dough. I'd like 1 percent of any of that though lol
ReplyDeleteI expect George RR Martin to get a little higher on the list the more GOT is on TV.
ReplyDeleteHe will probably keep inching up there.
DeletePardon me while I wish I made more now.
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Robert. I'm with Pat. 1 percent would be really good:)
DeletePat, we could split that 1 percent and still be doing just fine. grin.
ReplyDeleteYou know what is sad? That chick who wrote the stupid 50 Shades is ahead of Dr. Seuss
ReplyDeleteAnd didn't she originally self publish or am I mistaken?
DeleteI have no idea! I am still wondering how she was able to get where she is with such a crappy book
DeleteI've never read it. Not my cup of tea.
DeleteI think you have to be extremely lucky to be in with the "Best Author" list. There are many here on line. Good luck to them.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Indeed.
