Have you noticed every politician or political junkie being interviewed on TV starts his sentence with 'Look' or throws it in the first sentence or two? Apparently, it's the new buzz word. I know what's going to happen, I'm resigned. I hear it so much, I'll start inadvertently starting my sentences with... Look.

Sigh.
Mind you, I don't want to look OR listen to politicians.
we don't even a translation for it in my language
I don't understand politicians .
Yvonne.
I'm SO tired of the political BS we've been subjected to on both sides of the aisle, so I'll LOOK next time a politician speaks. It will give me a reason to pay attention (grin). Have a super Tuesday.
Look is good with politicians. Turn off the sound and just look. You will not miss anything....Hugs, Valerie
Maybe they just want to attract looky lous?
If they added "see" after they would sound like Edward G Robinson from his gangster movies. Look, see. (-;
What is funny is there isn't anything to look at when they say it!
Look, they know the answer. Look at all the flakes thinking they got all the answers. It is humbling this year's cast of candidates. Look at their feet of clay.
I've noticed look is in fashion and also so. Everyone on TV starts out with so...and in talking with young people too. So, look, I think you made a great point here!

Not just politicians honey, not just them... But you're right, they, they surely shouldn't use it. Btw, linked back. ;)
Grin. You're a smart woman, EC.
I never even considered that. Going from one language to another is extremely difficult. You are the maestro.
That speaks well for you:)
When someone uses that word, it is supposed to feel more aggressive (for women that is, men it is assertive) and make the person they are talking to pay attention. If Trump said Look, I would say "I am looking! How can I not look at your hair. Does it have wings? Can you fly around with that hair or what?" I would then be carted off outside and dumped into the dumptser
They certainly can spew it out can't they, Elizabeth?
"Look" sounds condescending and almost commanding to me. I don't care for it! Maybe because it's something I've been told in the past when I was out of line on something? If you watch Shark Tank, pay attention to how many people start sentences with "So." It drives me crazy. One of the sharks will ask, "Have you sold any products yet?" and they'll say, "So we've been marketing them to grocery chains..." After I noticed it there, I started noticing it in business conversations, as well.
Ha! Hugs back.
Heh! Maybe:)
Ha!
:) That's for sure.
Look at your response. It's great!:)
Bahaha yes! "Look" is the beginning of an aliby for some accusation made on their behalf. I re-read it in Trump's voice. Haha.

I hadn't picked up on the so.
So, look, I'll be aware of it:)
I'm sure a lot of others do as well. For some reason it's the politicians use of it that jumps out at me:)
Great, on the link up!
Aggressive and assertive exactly sums it up, Birgit. Well put!
Ha to your responses to the Donald:)
Condescending...Yes! You and Birgit nailed it.
I hadn't picked up on the so, but JQ mentioned it too.
Heh:)
I believe David Cameron (UK PM) says this... but I've stopped listening to our politicians, so I might be making wild assumptions.
Probably no wilder than their assumptions, Annalisa:)
I've been noticing it here too, in Australia. We receive all you tricks eventually. The idea is to appear frank and open. None of these con artists ever are.
