Turf Wars

Who'd have thought those darling little chickadees and blue birds would be going at it beak and feet? Remember the bird house that was up for rent last summer? (See below) Well they both want it. And it's not like I don't have a blue bird house up. But that's not the one they want. (Location.Location.Location.) Both species want the house on the crape myrtle tree. Mama Blue Bird had Mrs. Chickadee on the ground, whaling on her. When she finally let her up, Mrs. Chickadee went right after Mama Blue Bird ready to go at it again.  Honestly, I don't even think the blue birds will fit in that house. I'm disappointed in the birds. They're acting just like people.

The undesired house looks a lot more stable but maybe they see a threat from animals crawling along the fence.

Love he bunny plate - enjoy! Those birds are naughty, very human indeed. The smallest ones are always the cheekiest ones here, too! Have a fun day, hugs, Valerie

Love the bunny plate. I still mourn a Beatrix Potter one I had which was broken forty years ago.
And pecking order is sooooo much more than words isn't it?

That's a lovely bunny plate!
The birds are starting to annoy me here, we have a tree above our gates and they like to poop right on the doorknob and they also poop down from the trees in our backyard, nasty little devils... imma gonna send my cat to get rid of them :)

I think you need a few more birdhouses...

Hi, dear Sandra!

That's a shame. It makes me sad when critters (or humans) fight over territory. Have you considered moving the other bird house to a more desirable location? My dad shopped for construction materials and spent a great deal of time following the specifications outlined in a book to build a large, deluxe bird house specifically designed to attract the Purple Martin. He erected it atop a 10 foot pole in our back yard, then watched and waited. The only type of bird that showed up and moved in was the common sparrow.

That's a beautiful Easter bunny plate!

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Sandra!

After being a avid bird lover for my entire life, I have never seen birds fighting over a nesting house. I did see a squirrel chasing a bird through the trees this morning. Do love the plate.

Sandra Cox said...

Hi Andrew,
Could be. Also it's probably closer to the house than they like.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Val. You too.
Hugs

I love Beatrix Potter. I mourn it with you.

Hi Dez!
I love birds, but the poop is pretty disgusting, especially on the doorknob. Ewww.

Sandra Cox said...

I think so too:)

Hi Anne Marie,
It looks like an antique doesn't it? Actually it's Williams-Sonomia.

I can see the charm of the cottage look as opposed to the modern almost Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Water. And the bunny bowl needs to be filled with black jelly beans (-;

I love sitting on my back porch watching the birds, and yes they can be territorial. But I put up lots of bird-feeders. It's keeping the squirrels out that I fight. :)

They have to be the real birds of Atlanta or New York. I am waiting to see the TV show on these birds. Next they'll be chirping about how horrible ther feathers look. Love the Easter bowl!

And to you, Vanessa;)

Sandra Cox said...

Hi Shady, Actually I have, but I don't really have another spot that works.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Yvonne. They are just the prettiest little birds, even if they do have an attitude:)

Sandra Cox said...

Yeah, I'm thinking so:)

Sandra Cox said...

Silly squirrel:) Someone else said there were chickadee and blue bird fights going on at their bird houses. Who knew.

Sandra Cox said...

No black jelly beans on my watch:)

Sandra Cox said...

I hear ya, there were always squirrels on search and destroy missions where I previously lived.

I guess the solution is to put up another house for them...one similar to the one they're all fighting over. Set up an apartment block of bird houses...that should sort them out! ;)

Get some more bird houses! Birds are so funny! I have a chickadee and Nuthatch fighting over a house too! I have to say, the way you described everything Sandra, I was laughing! I know I shouldn't be!

I forgot to say, I love your bunny plate!

Silly birds! And aw, what an adorable bunny plate! :)

Oh my goodness, how interesting. More homes for them needed it seems.

Isn't that the cutest plate? I love it!!! We had to take our birdfeeder down because it was attracting skunks. Our dog was sprayed twice in one week. Well, we weren't sure the birdfeeder is what brought them, but we took it down just to be sure. Those birds are messy eaters--there was always birdseed all over the ground.

Sandra Cox said...

Isn't it the truth? Heh heh.

Sandra Cox said...

Too funny.

Sandra Cox said...

I may have to, Lee. Sigh.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Magic:)

Sandra Cox said...

I know! I couldn't decide whether to laugh or worry.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Heather;)
Yes, those birds were being very silly.

Sandra Cox said...

Apparently:)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Steph:)
A skunk!!!! Yikes!!!!
They are messy. In a perfect bird society, there should be ground feeders to clean up the seed that has fallen.

Jeanie said...

Hi Sandra! First, thanks for coming the The Marmelade Gypsy and for the follow, which I intend to reciprocate as soon as I sign off this post! And I have to say, this made me laugh out loud when you said you were disappointed in the birds; they were acting just like people! Isn't that the truth?! I'll keep that thought and smile all day -- I hope they work it out!

And love your bunny plate!

I certainly understand why the bluebirds want the fancier house. It is gorgeous. Your Easter Bunny is a cutie.

Sandra Cox said...

Glad you enjoyed it, Jeanie:)
