So we went to see the fireworks Saturday night as we do every fourth of July weekend. We park about three minutes from our house and afterwards zip home. This year the city, in its infinite wisdom, decided to block off the roads and herd the cars in a specific direction. Who'd have thought a town with a population of less than twenty-six thousand could be so congested. It took us nearly half an hour to get home. You could see headlights for miles. Bah Humbug.
We saw Tarzan yesterday. The HH loved it. I was a bit more ambivalent. It was good but didn't quite meet my expectations. I did thoroughly enjoy Samuel Jackson's character. He did a great job:)

City? Wisdom? Traffic arrangements? They don't travel well together do they?
I hope the fireworks made up for it.
HAPPY THANKS GIVING DAY SANDRA:
Yvonne.
Happy Thanksgiving Day, sorry you needed so long to get home! Hugs, Valerie
Traffic is never fun but hopefully good fireworks were spun
Looking forward to the Tarzan movie. I read all the books before I was 14.
We watch the fireworks from the Brother's deck. He lives on a hill and we can see down into the city where the fireworks are. Good food. Good company and no traffic as our route takes us in the opposite direction. Good deal.
That was dumb. They created a traffic problem rather than solve one.
If we go out to see fireworks, we gather at our church for a cookout and watch them from there. They shoot them off at the mall, which is a half a mile down the road. Then we beat feet the second it's over and always beat the traffic home.
Well, they started early yesterday with the fireworks and Emmy, the weenie, was terrified. One more night of it. And I have to cook all day. So I say, bah humbug this year anyway. They let the city shoot fireworks in the city. I can't believe that and wish I'd have spent the fourth at the farm.
Yup, kind of an oxymoron isn't it?
The fireworks were good:)
:) Thanks, Yvonne.
Thanks, Val. It was just silly.
They were good. Thanks, Pat.
I think you'll enjoy it. The HH read the series too.
How perfect. I'm envious:)
That sounds perfect. Happy 4th, Diane.
Cooking all day....are you having folks at your house today?
I spent Canada day in my jammies and loved it! The last time I went to fireworks we had to park and walk for a 1/2 hour to see really pathetic fireworks. The good news is due to the dryness, no one can light firecrackers around our home! I am dancing and a dancing. I am not sold on this Tarzan...the scene where he and the ape strut their manlihood made me giggle. What character does Samuel L Jackson play?
Jammies all day sound perfect. He's traveling with Tarzan to investigate rumors of enslavement in Belgium.
The Tarzan movie has been getting a lot of advertising space on our UK TV - I just hope all those that go to see it enjoy it!
All the best Jan
Happy America Day. I'm sorry for the traffic. I definitely feel for you. I'm currently hiding in my house to avoid the large amount of crowds/traffic/explosions that my city is infested with at the moment.
Happy Fourth of July...even though it's past the date as I type. :)
The reviews I've read so far on the new Tarzan movie haven't been that flattering. I grew up with Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan...how we loved the Tarzan movies at Saturday afternoon matinees. And how we loved playing Tarzan in our backyard. :)
Margot Robbie who plays "Jane" in this latest version is a lass from my own backyard (or front yard, I should say). She is a Gold Coast-raised girl and here where I live is classed as the Gold Coast Hinterland. It's about a 30-45 minute drive from here on the hill (Tamborine Mountain) to the coast.
That's too bad about the fire works! I hope you still had a good 4th of July! Thanks for your input about the movie! I was wondering about this one! Big Hugs!
