Why am I taking pictures of carts--or buggies as they are called in the South? Good question. And here's the answer. See those brown blobs in my picture? They're birds. For whatever reason, these carts were very popular with sparrows this weekend. It wasn't a grocery store so I'm assuming crumbs weren't the draw. Maybe some bird seed got spilled, though it seems like that would have went straight through the bottom of the buggy. Anyhoo they were entertaining to watch flitting in and out of the carts. They were moving faster than Friday night grocery shoppers and that's saying something.

I like your comment about the birds moving faster than Friday night grocery shoppers!! I called those grocery karts 'buggies' too when I first moved to Canada, but was corrected as no one knew what I was talking about. . .

Never knew shopping carts were also called buggies! How cute about all the birds having fun in 'em...
Birds hanging around humans for food normally annoys me but sparrows don't. They are so fast and entertaining to watch, plus, their calling cards are pretty small.

I didn't know "buggies" is used to mean "shopping carts." I've always known them as shopping carts or just carts.
Ah, you must be from the south. I moved here 16 years ago and had never heard the term before.

Surprisingly, they'd let you get pretty close before they flew away.

Grin on the grocery shopping. Actually it was at a building and supply store. That is part of why it was so intriguing. A grocery store would have made more sense.
Sparrows tend to be where people are it seems. I never heard the buggie term either.
Now that's a sight! and a fascinating one. (And I haven't heard about the buggy term, either!)
Maybe they were finding supplies to create their nest...best place to find things....think of the men at these places or Home Depot:)
Funny how everyone has a different word for them, cart is the standard and most understandable. I've also heard wagon, carriage, and a few more
