Can you see the incongruity in these two pictures?
Yup, I've got my Christmas decos out and the roses are still blooming. And the azaleas are trying to bloom too for goodness sake!
It does seem incongruous to me the roses should be asleep when the Christmas decorations are out. We still have fuchsias flowering in our back garden, which is crazy. The frost usually kills them off at the end of November. At this moment in time, they are more likely to drown than freeze. We have had non stop rain for two days and nights, lots of floods in the area and our poor garden is a soggy mess.
I wouldn't be complaining if the roses were still in bloom. Yesterday's temps dipped below freezing with a windchill that made it feel like temps were in the teens. Brrrrr. Is it July, yet?
Do you live in Michigan too?! Well, our roses became a dead deal over the weekend but till then they were out as well! Here's hoping our global climate gets its act together (though I have to say, I loved the extended fall!)
Your roses are beautiful. I have decorated for Christmas, too. My roses aren't blooming, but they will probably bloom again by Christmas. It's seventy degrees. What a gorgeous day.
People keep posting they put their trees up in early November and such. If I speak up and say I prefer to keep Christmas to December, I'm told I'm just not as "into Christmas" as the person who celebrates it for months. I love Christmas! I just like to wait until after Thanksgiving, but that appears to be becoming NOT the norm.
Winter is well and truly settling in in my part of Germany. Nothing blooming, the trees have all shed their leaves and snow is falling on the higher ground.
I knew right away! Our flowers are blooming as well and we have had frost! Amazing isn't it. I do love your little Christmas scene. At least it is cold out....more in keeping with November weather which I prefer
Michigan is way too cold for me:) Though, we did live many years in WI. Yes, the extended fall has been nice and it's giving us a chance to winterize the porch.
I'm afraid you're right about a monster winter. My thoughts: everyday like this that goes by lessens the length of winter and brings us closer to spring.
I think this year for us, will be the same as last year. We had a green Christmas last year and I think it will be the same for us this year. Although, we have some snow now, but we are suppose to be warming up to Spring like temperatures for the weekend! No blooms here! That is weird!!! Nature is screwed up! Can you blame it??? Big Hugs! (I love your Christmas set up! So cute!)

Nature is sometimes strange, huh? Lovely photos. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
Such beautiful flowers! It never snows where I live, so for me, it doesn't seem strange to see them and Christmas decorations together, LOL.
What lovely blooms Sandra.
Yvonne.

Nothing to do with global warming though.

Nice to still have the bloom, we finally had to give in to frosts
They just want to be festive and cheery too
The weather is really different this year. Late in coming here too.
LOL Missed the roses at first. I still have a couple flowers blooming in my garden despite the recent frost.

Indeed it is. I love still seeing my roses, but it is a little freaky.
Hugs back,
It has been such an up and down autumn. I'm not sure we'll ever turn the page to winter, but when it comes, it will more than likely be a monster.
Where are you located at, Heather?
Non stop rain for 2 days! Yikes!
We're dry as a bone here.
Where's the happy medium?
Not a thing...cough cough.

Come south, young woman, come south:)
Ah well, at least we had an extended Indian Summer.
Exactly! Nothing wrong with that:) Just a little out of character....
It sure is, Donna!
I don't remember an Indian summer lasting this long do you?

It's amazing isn't it, Janie?
Whatever works for you works for me:)
Once Halloween is out of the way, I'm good to go:)
Snow....brrrr.
So glad to hear your rewriting is flowing smoothly.
It is amazing!
Those tabbies:)
There are many flowers surviving during this time of year. Burr
My Jasmine just did the same thing. Just lit up with hundreds of little white flowers. I'm sitting here going 'aren't you cold, dude?'
They're hardier than I am:)
Indeed:)
Well ... it all makes for a most interesting mix!
All the best Jan
