Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures is about three African American women  mathematicians  and the  vital roles they played in the space program.  It was an amazing movie that carried an emotional punch on many levels.  I had no idea what problems NASA  faced to get the first American astronaut into the atmosphere.  Nor the day-to-day impact of segregation.
The intelligence of the three women the movie is based on leaves me in awe.  Katherine Johnson started high school at age ten, graduated at fourteen and graduated from West Virginia State College at age eighteen.  Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan were also highly intelligent women who broke through the gender-color barrier.  I don't want to mention much more in case you haven't seen the movie.  But if you have seen it and are curious about how closely the movie followed the actual events, historyvshollywood did an interesting article on the film.

Highly recommended.

Vegetarian Protein And Wonder Woman

Do you use this product?

I just recently discovered it and love it. It has from 23 to 27 grams of protein and can be used in a hot dish or cold.  I toss in a couple of different cheeses, some veggies and put it on my salads.

What do you do for protein?

On a different topic we went to see Wonder Woman this weekend.  I was hesitant to because I didn't care for Batman VS Superman where she's first introduced. Then I saw Alex Cavanaugh's review and decided to give it a go.  I'm so glad I did.  On a one to five I'd give it a six.  It's a great action flick. And talk about a feminist super hero:)  Coming from an Amazon society, she just doesn't get the it's a man's world thing. Spoiler alert: If you're a Chris Pine fan there's a sad scene. Still highly recommended.
Thanks, Alex.

IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.

My post this month is just for fun and--sorry guys--geared toward the female populace in the blogosphere.  Have you seen the book charm bracelets that are gaining popularity? Steven King. Nancy Drew. Agatha Christie. Etc. I decided I wanted one with my books. I discovered Robin Smetana  on twitter, contacted her and asked if she could make me a bracelet.  She had it made in twenty-four hours.  And she was such a joy to work with, professional, pleasant and energetic.
This is what I ended up with:

Before I discovered Robin, I had ordered this charm. I liked it, but it was a LONG time from order to delivery. The cost was eight dollars including shipping and handling, which wasn't bad for one charm, but I would have needed twenty-five and a bracelet.  Yikes! Needless to say I was thrilled to find Robin whose prices were/are very reasonable....And I love her work.
What about you. Got any fun pieces of jewelry or novelties you'd like to share?

Answer to Yesterday's Question:
6

3 is the normal response.  For most (of) us, the brain doesn't process the word OFIt's a sticky note that doesn't normally adhere to the brain.

We've got a smart crowd. Lots of you figured it out.  I fell in the 3 category, which I guess makes me normal--whatever normal may be:)
