Group day. Members post about their doubts and fears, discuss struggles

My post this month is just for fun and--sorry guys--geared toward the female populace in the blogosphere. Have you seen the book charm bracelets that are gaining popularity? Steven King. Nancy Drew. Agatha Christie. Etc. I decided I wanted one with my books. I discovered Robin Smetana on twitter, contacted her and asked if she could make me a bracelet. She had it made in twenty-four hours. And she was such a joy to work with, professional, pleasant and energetic.
This is what I ended up with:
What about you. Got any fun pieces of jewelry or novelties you'd like to share?
Answer to Yesterday's Question:
6
3 is the normal response. For most (of) us, the brain doesn't process the word OF. It's a sticky note that doesn't normally adhere to the brain.
We've got a smart crowd. Lots of you figured it out. I fell in the 3 category, which I guess makes me normal--whatever normal may be:)
Love your book charm. A stunner. Probably my most treasured pieces are the ones my father made.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am relieved to know that I didn't receive a failing grade yesterday.
I never thought I was normal, and it seems I am right.
DeleteYou're a genius, woman:)
DeleteLOVE that bracelet, what a stunner. I'm glad I'm normal, first time in my life....Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThis bracelet is fabulous. I was really impressed. So much better than having to wait several weeks only to realize you would be out a fortune if you wanted all your books made like that charm. Very fortunate.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not normal. I guess because I read EVERY word in a sentence, these things stand out. I seem to immediately zoom in if I see a wrong or misspelled word. I guess I'd make a good reader for misspelled or wrong words.
Thanks, Elizabeth. I thought it was a lot of fun. I hope I'm not exaggerating but it seems like it was a couple of months before I got the one charm back and though the little books are cute, they would have been too clunky for a charm bracelet. Robin really is great to work with and she does a lot of other fun jewelry besides book charms. I love her.
DeleteAnd no you're not normal YOU are genius:)
A different kind of bracelet.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun.
DeleteCute bracelet! Wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks, S.J. I really enjoy it.
DeleteI did love your book charm. It's great.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Thanks, Yvonne:)
DeleteWow, that book charm bracelet is amazing! Very cool how you were able to get a custom-made one like that, and so promptly, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Heather,
DeleteI enjoy it. And it was truly amazing how quickly Robin got it done.
The 'F' riddle, must be on the first attempt!
ReplyDeleteNot a second, third..etc...Strange about the
brain...I counted five, that was strange to..
As l've got the IQ of a rocking horse...! :0).
Love that bracelet...very chunky! Think you'd
need one on the other wrist, to balance up a
bit...! :).
Apparently your rocking horse is genius:)
DeleteIs the other bracelet to keep me from listing to the side? :)
Listing! Listing! Yes! That's
Deleteit..Listening! :0).
Twenty-five books? I'm in awe... But cool you were able to get a bracelet with all of them.
ReplyDeleteI saw six - and the ones in 'of' were the first ones that registered. I wonder what that means...
I have no life, Alex:)
DeleteIt means you're genius;)
What a fabulous idea!! That's new to me. Have a super month and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, Nicola. You have a great one too!
DeleteHow precious! I've had posters and mugs made of my book covers.
ReplyDeletePosters and mugs are fun.
DeleteI love it. Actually, I have my time-travel set of jewelry to celebrate my series. Have you seen those mini books though? I was REALLY tempted to get a couple of those made because they're so stinkin cool!
ReplyDeleteExcellent, Crystal!
DeleteThat second charm is a little book and yes they are cute:)
Like that idea for your bracelet. And yes, I already knew the answer to that question :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jamie:)
DeleteDid you get all six the first time around?
I'm all about having fun and the bracelet looks fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is, Ann:)
DeleteYour bracelet is fabulous and thanks for sharing Robin's info. She's very talented and what a wonderful idea! Worth every cent, I think!
ReplyDeleteShe does great work and creates wonderful family mementos.
DeleteThat is the cutest, neatest bracelet. So glad you found it. I gave my childhood charm bracelet to my daughter.
ReplyDeleteI love it when jewelry is passed down to the next generation. Your daughter now has a heirloom.
DeleteThat is sure neat indeed. A great idea.
ReplyDeleteThe first two ofs registered with me but the third took me a moment to find.
:)
DeleteYou're a genius, Pat:)
They totally escaped me.
Cover Art charms--what a lovely idea. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnna from elements of emaginette
A friend of mine has Agatha Christie on a braided bracelet:)
DeleteI have a charm bracelet, and the charms actually symbolize my published books/ebooks. :) I love those cover art charms, though!
ReplyDeleteThat's very special and meaningful, Chrys. What charms are on the bracelet?
DeleteI'd love a charm bracelet like that! What fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun, Lee:)
DeleteI love those charms! I want to get that as a string to hang around my house.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, I don't have much in the way of fun jewelry. The exception being my coin necklace that my wife and I swapped (we both had one, just different designs) and my wedding ring (which is the one ring from Lord of the Rings)
Ha!
DeleteWhat a lovely and meaningful thing to do, swapping necklaces.
Your wedding ring is very Preciousssss:)
I've seen tests like that before. The charm bracelet is pretty cool. You sure have a lot of books! I don't wear jewelry except my wedding ring and a watch. I take after my mother that way, but she had eczema and didn't wear jewelry for that reason.
ReplyDeleteYou wear the important jewelry, Tamara:)
DeleteI love that charm bracelet! I'm sure Robin will be getting a lot more business after this post.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
DeleteI think anyone who goes to her will be pleased with the results:)
What a great gift idea actually and I think I see another book cover on the bracelet. What a great way to show appreciation of the book than to do this for someone who loves charm bracelets or even a pendant actually.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Birgit. A writer would love for someone to give them a 'their-book' related gift:)
DeleteWhen my uncle passed, I asked Robin to make a pendant with their wedding picture on it for my aunt.
Those are cool. I don't wear much jewelry but I would find a place to wear that.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteGlad you like it, Susan.
Lovely and festive bracelet! 3 f's are normal? Well, that's some consolation for my long-ago schooldays.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Geo:)
DeleteHa.
Charm bracelets are quite popular ...
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the answer to the 'F' question.
All the best Jan
That bracelet is so cool Sandra! Love!!! I really love it!!!
ReplyDelete6??? Ok, I am normal, but kind of freaky too! LOL!
Big Hugs!
