Mornings

I love retirement. After getting up before six more years than I care to remember, these days my first alarm goes off around eight.  Belle stands outside the door announcing it's time for her breakfast. I swear she's had lessons on how to throw her voice. I mentally hit the snooze button. About a half hour later, Penny (the dog) informs me by scratching at the door that she really, really needs to go out.  This one I pay more attention to.  I drag myself out of bed, do about five minutes of yoga/meditation then the dog, four cats and I go trooping outside. After we've meandered through the garden a few times it's time for breakfast. Their breakfast.  Then and only then am I allowed to grab my coffee, settle on the sofa and watch CNN and/or MSNBC.  If current affairs are too much to deal with I switch over to Murder She Wrote. There's nothing like a spot of murder to take one's mind off world events.

The HH and the baby boy went to Atlanta last week to catch a Cubs' game and the HH brought me back this mug. Given my routine I thought it the perfect gift:)

What about you? How do you spend your mornings?

I start my mornings well before sparrow-fart. Often hours before first light. Quietly. With a cup of chai for preference.
And yes, Jazz is pretty good at having his demands met.

I get woken most days by the sun and the birds. I always wonder how tiny birds can have such loud voices. And when I heave myself out of bed it's coffee time, always taken at the computer. Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

I'm up all night, usually on the internet with my European friends. I see the sun come up, grab my coffee, water my plants, then head to bed. I usually sleep about three hours, then I'm up. I catch the early evening news to see what has happened during the day, but I don't like to hear bad things when I first wake up. Since I only eat once a day, usually around 3ish CDT, that's when the boys get fed. They know the routine, so they usually have a bit of food left in their bowls when I go to sleep. The three of us snuggle up together, but sometime after I'm asleep, Squiggles usually gets up and leaves. It's a great routine for me, but one my real life friends don't seem to understand or care for.

Blah, still get up before six at our sea. So not fun, as the 9-5 must be done.

Himself gets up at the crack of stupid to leave for school as traffic is so bad. Sometimes I'm able to go back to bed, most times I just get up. The sunroom routine is local news, tea, and a bagel while I read blogs and Facebook. Enjoy your day!

That was a great gift he brought home for you.

Your new mug is delightful and of course now a very special part to the start of your day! Thoughtful hubby.
Because hubby and I are so busy during the day with all sorts of chores and/or projects, we spend the first hour or so of our morning having coffee and just being together before we have breakfast.

Have a beautiful day Sandra 🌞

Big Hugs
❤💮❤

I've been online every morning. I tend to get up between four and five.

Love the CNN mug.

We get up early and that coffee has to come first. On the weekends, it's usually the cats waking us up by 7 am. With a loud squeaky toy in bed with us I might add.

Just like you only first hour of GMA then CNN and blogs. It is hard when I have to be somewhere early. Don't miss those days at all.

It's the most serene time of the day isn't it, EC.

Sounds like a pretty interesting day, and everything you want it to be. Despite no longer being in the USAF, I still get up at the crack of dawn even when I try not to. (lol) I usually do projects via the computer or try to visit blogs first thing in the morning, eat, then watch something I missed on television the night before. I then go walking for exercise, and the rest of the day is a blur. (lol) Hugs...RO

I live for my steady routines. Coffee is a must, I check online news then read the actual newspaper at some point.

After I retired and before the HH did, I never got up when he left for work. I was afraid the shock might stop his heart:)

The HH did good, didn't he;)

I really liked my pet door so not to get up. The downfall was a hunting cat bringing me treasures like birds and bugs

Much the same. I wake up when I wake up -- between 7 and 8, feed Lizzie, log into the computer and turn on the telly to news. At 9, I try to watch Perry Mason reruns if I can. I just love them!

Your mornings sound grand. A little early for me:) but still grand.

I love your life and would love to get up around 8am every day...one day and I know you have earned your retirement. The mug is perfect for you and HH knows you well as he should. We have 4 cats and 1 dog too which means we have a similar regimen. I get up at 5:45am...I crawl out of bed, go upstairs and get that bathroom over and done with. I feed the cats that are upstairs, the. Go downstairs, feed the other 2 and then put the dog out and feed him. I finally take my pain medicine and make my toast and honey. I make it to the couch where I place my fat ass on it and turn on CP 24 which comes from Toronto. I do a couple of puzzles and look at my blog before having to get ready for work. The heating pad does wonders for my hips and by 7:45 I can move better to get ready for the day.

I'm with you on the not catching up. Crazy isn't it?

Tabbies...she does just fine solo. Heh.

Does your pet door have an electronic device? On the old ones I was always leery of unwelcome visitors.

Sandra Cox said...

Life is good:)

Sandra Cox said...

Oh no. Not Perry Mason reruns. The HH watches them constantly:)

Sandra Cox said...

Yup we're both 4 1 1 girls:)
Wow. You have to get up early to get anything done before work don't ya?
I Love heating pads. They make everything so much better.

I love that mug!!
My mornings, well, if I had my choice, I would be up by 6:00am and get things going! But, I would wake everyone. I'm still up, doing my stretches, meditations, and then I come down to have breakfast around 9:00am. Honestly, it's too late for me. I like to get going!!! I've got gardening and painting to do! LOL!
Big Hugs!

All that energy. You need to bottle it;)

I don't watch much news, I prefer to read them online. But all the right wing lunatics say I watch CNN/MSNBC 28 hours a day.
