A Wild and Crazy Week

Yes, it was.
Michael smacked us. We were VERY lucky that a smack was all it was considering the havoc he wrought in Florida. Our county and town had downed power lines, dozens of downed trees, roads washed away and one death. Except for the death, which was grievous, it could have been so much worse.
On the uptick I got to meet the beautiful and talented Diane Wolfe. I have a couple of pictures I will post at a later date. I'd post them today, but my phone and I are on the outs. Since the power was off, the little demon went roaming. We are ignoring each other till my plan rolls over.
Diane was holding a Publishing 101 Workshop at the Wilkes CC. What I caught of it was extremely helpful, with lots of interesting factoids. I left before it was over since night driving and I don't get along much better than my roaming phone and I.
If you are looking for a publishing house, you might want to consider Dancing Lemurs. Diane does more advertising for her authors than any small press I've dealt with.
AND....
The butterfly bush was filled with four-winged moths that I'd never seen before. They resembled small Monarch butterflies with flat wings beneath the flutter wings. I would have taken a picture, but again, my phone and I are not on speaking terms.
When I lived in IL, I had a ho-hum attitude about moths. Maybe even a little enmity because they occasionally chewed on my clothes. But in North Carolina I've seen beautiful ones that rival butterflies.
So what about you? What were you doing last week? Did Michael affect you? I sincerely hope not.
AND...
FYI. If I seem a little slow at responding to blogs, I'm still very much engaged, I'm just trying to get some writing done. And--blush, blush--we've been binging on Once Upon A Time in the evenings.

Sorry to hear you were affected by that awful weather, and hope things are getting back to normal. Good that you still had some me time for writing and getting into touch with others. Sorry about your phone! Hope this week will be a great one for you, hugs, Valerie

Goodness, Sandra, I was SO worried about you during the LAST storm, but didn't think much about how you would be affected by THIS one. I am SO glad you are OK, and, even though your phone and you aren't talking (yet ONE more reason for me to never own one), I'm thrilled you checked in and are safe.

Sorry Michael smacked you. He wasn't too bad here, especially not after going through Florence.
Cool you got to meet Diane!

Glad to hear not too much damage for you from Michael. What we've seen of the area on the news is just horrible. Can't even imagine that kind of devastation.

Hi Sandra - glad you escaped damage from Michael - he was a busy cruel storm. Saw that you'd met Diane - fun and yes Diane does seem to support her authors. Good luck with finding your demons and tying everything together again - cheers Hilary

I wonder if you had a visit by Viceroys, a monarch mimic. Glad you are safe and sound.

I've been meaning to finish Once Upon a time but they do get so redundant after season 4

I am a moff fan. They OFTEN rival butterflies.

Thanks for your concern, Elizabeth. I appreciate it. We were lucky compared to many.
I trust things are calm in your neck of the woods.

Thanks, Hilary.
Michael was indeed busy and cruel.
It was fun meeting Diane:)

I went and looked up Viceroys. The butterflies I thought were Monarchs could have been Viceroys. The moths are a little different. Their bottom wings are completely flat. Then they have a pair on top of the flat wings that they use to flutter and fly.

Good it was just a smack indeed. All we got here was rain, rain, and more rain. Already watched Once here, so no need to binge it.

Season 4 is where we are at. The HH isn't getting into the Anna and Elsa segment:)

It was a horrific storm and we really didn't catch the brunt of it. I was keeping a close watch on the water building near the house and in the yard. Whew.
I'm counting down the days till my phone and I are friends again:)

Sandra Cox said...

The crew thanks you for the hugs, though the four-legged members consider it only their due:)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, EC. Just a few more days to be irritated with the phone...
It just amazes me how many truly beautiful moths there are.
Have a great one.

Did you watch all 7 seasons?

I hate that you had to go through any of that Super Sandra, and glad all is now well. Never want to think of you and the fam suffering ever! I have several friends in Florida, and was thrilled to hear that they came out ahead of the madness, but I continue to send up lots of prayers for those who are still going through it all. On another note - I'm always in for a good binge and glad you're enjoying such an imaginative show. Sending some hugs to you from about 2 1/2 hours away and waving hello! RO

Very sorry to read you were affected by the bad, bad weather.
So many countries seem to be experiencing storms, floods etc. My thoughts go to all those affected.

I do hope things get back to normal soon.
Take care, my good wishes.

All the best Jan

I'm very much afraid if Global Warming isn't handled soon, this will be the norm.
