The Swallowtail population is flourishing. Including the Black Swallowtail, I counted six. Unfortunately, three was all I could get in the picture.
AND... Other species.
If anyone is curious about cat fencing, it's the black mesh over the privacy fence.

A view from the window.

Lucky, lucky kayakers.
And I love the shots from your home.
I'd be worried about the whale. Everything seen in your window view could be seen from an Australian home window and usually things are just that bit different, but not so in this case.
Your garden is looking great. Those kayakers must have had an almighty shock! Hugs, Valerie
If I had that beautiful garden view from my window, I'd never leave. What a glorious view and lovely flowers and plants.
The kayakers got a big surprise, indeed.
Sure enjoying your spot, I guess they know they aren't being hunted any more haha
That was amazing seeing the whale gently lift them up.
Such a lovely garden view, and something about seeing butterflies relaxes my soul. What an amazing experience that had to have been with the whale. Happy Tuesday to you, Super Sandra and Hugs! RO
Great garden pictures.
Interesting video.
That video is amazing! I don't understand the cat fencing. What does the black mesh do?
Love,
Janie
Butterflies are so beautiful. Wouldn't it be nice if butterflies could be as numerous as flies. I'd much rather be bugged at a picnic by a butterfly.
Lucky in more ways than one, hey?:)
Thanks, EC:)
Not me. My heart would have stopped, so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Heh:)
Nice to know I've got an Australian-like garden:)
Thanks, Val.
An almighty shock indeed:)
Thanks so much, dear Elizabeth.
Yes, those kayakers did:)
Heh. Yeah, thank goodness the mighty hunter has lost interest.
A little nerve-wracking to be on top of a whale like that.
We got some regular swallowtails, but most of ours here are the black variety.
Beautiful garden! So many butterflies! I only saw a few this year. And now the worry no more butterflies or bees as the EEE virus has been discovered in mosquitoes in my area. One woman has died from it and 3 others are sick. The state began spraying my area last night. 😔 Wow those kayakers were sure lucky!
Loved the shots Sandra, thanks for sharing with us.
Yvonne.
Beautiful. Very hard, sometimes, to get those butterflies and you nailed it! How fun to see so many you could only get three in the photo!
Don't ya just love the butterfly bush? We have four and we have a lot of butterflies, mainly monarchs. you took some really nice photos. They are lucky because the whale could have done some serious damage but it shows how gentle this beast is. I would have to change my underwear if I was in that spot
It sure was, Alex:)
Butterflies are born relaxers aren't they, Ro? Although 2 were pretty engrossed in their activity and landed on my toe to do it. I directed them to the nearest rent by the hour motel:)
That would definitely have been an experience with the whale, for sure.
Hugs received and returned.
Thanks, Jamie:)
Keeps the cat from climbing over the fence.
Or ants:)
I like that thought!
I can't begin to imagine what that was like!
The black ones are very pretty.
Oh no. I saw on the news that a woman had died. It didn't click that she was in your area. PLEASE be careful.
Thanks, Yvonne. My pleasure:)
That's the most Swallowtails I've seen at one time. It was fun:)
No problem for me. Either I would have fainted or my heart would have stopped. But what a remarkable experience with a truly remarkable creature. How folks can hunt them is beyond me.
Yes. I love the butterfly bush. They grow like trees here. We've got two and they are taking over. One has grown past the roof. I can't imagine 4:)
Nice flowers
I know that's the point, but how does it work? Do their claws slip on it so they can't get to the top?
frankie.....dood.....cat fencin !! ??? due yur peepulz troo lee think thiz iz gonna....werk !! ;) ♥♥
Your garden is looking very nice.
All the best Jan
Your garden is gorgeous Sandra! Wow, look at all those butterflies!!! That whale was saying hello! LOL! Big Hugs!
He and the HH are constantly patrolling the fence. Frank looking for an out. The HH making sure there's no escape routes:)
Thank you, Jan:)
Thanks, Stacy:) The butterflies are fluttering as I type.
He did appear to be saying hello, didn't he? Oh so gently.
Hugs received and returned.
