Happy birthday, Stephanie. I hope your day is amazing.
No, I had no idea lilacs live that long. I moved one and it lived, but the next door neighbor who thought or decided it was on his property snuffed out its life. To this day, I miss the wonderful scent it gave off in spring each year.
I do too, Birgit. Lilacs are my very favorite. When I lived in the Midwest, I had one outside my bedroom window. When the scent wafted in, it was glorious.
Our lilac bush on the farm was huge and grew every year. My brm was upstairs and the lilac scent was amazing. Its tallest branches almost reached my window.

A very happy birthday to Stephanie.
How I wish that lilacs DID live for hundreds of years in my garden. It would be an amazing memorial.

I suppose they can live for years just like any other trees. Happy Birthday Stephanie! Hugs, Valerie
I didn't know that Sandra, thanks for sharing. Happy Birthday to Stephanie.
Yvonne.
Ooh, fascinating. Had no idea they could live for hundreds of years like that!
Sure put humans to shame with lifespan.
That's a long time for a bush.
I had no idea that this beautiful flowering bush could live that long. I love this flower and the smell. A happy birthday to Stephanie!!
Happy Birthday, Stephanie 🎂🎁🎈 I had no idea lilacs could live that long. I love them, but they aggravate the hay fever.
Wow, bushes can live a long time! Amazing.
And Happy Birthday to Stephanie.
I love lilac bushes. My parents had a big, beautiful one in their front yard. I wish I'd had gotten a start before the house was sold.
They are pretty old
Aww, thank you for the birthday wishes!!! Sounds like I need to plant some lilacs...as long as they can survive me forgetting to water them...
I did not know that at all! A plant I might not kill! And a sweet one, too!
honestly ? !! this is really neat; the lilac and the redwood !! ☺☺♥♥
You and me both, EC:) Unfortunately, they aren't big fans of hot weather.
I bet lilacs would do well in your area, Jeanie.
Bad neighbor. Bad.
I miss their scent too, Elizabeth. It's one of my favorites.
Indeed:)
Hugs received and returned.
My pleasure, Yvonne.
Isn't that amazing?
Heh. It sure does, Pat:)
It is indeed, Alex.

Oh no. They give you hay fever? That's sick and wrong.
Interesting!
They sure can, Jamie:)
I do too, Lizabeth. A cutting would have been wonderful.
They are indeed, Adam:)
Lilacs are sturdy. I think they'd do just fine as long as they didn't get too hot.
Hope your bday has been wondrous.
Hugs
Both are wondrous aren't they, FSG?
Glad you thought so, Christine:)
So trippy about long lived plants! Happy birthday Stephanie!
Trippy indeed:)
What else don't I know, Sandra? Hmm??
Our lilac bush on the farm was huge and grew every year. My brm was upstairs and the lilac scent was amazing. Its tallest branches almost reached my window.
