Ketchup Day

A belated wish for a:
As the regular blog buds know the end of 2019 hit my family like a tsunami.
My cat was diagnosed with cancer, as was my grandbaby. My brother went in the hospital with a failing liver. At the end of the year Captain Stubby went on to his next cycle of life. He was eighteen and pretty much lived life on his terms. We miss him, but it's such a relief that he is no longer suffering.
On the plus side of the Cox Board and it's a huge plus. The biopsy report on the baby came back a one-two astrocytoma. It's non-invasive. It does have mutations with the potential for growth in the future but that's not a given. Also he's on a feeding tube, but all in all wonderful news. Update: I wrote this Friday. He's now back in the hospital with congestion. Hopefully, they will get him squared away soon and it will be a short stay.

My brother has been in the hospital since well before Christmas and they've run a gazillion tests on him. He's down to a PET scan and approval from the review board, then he'll go on the list for a liver transplant.

But enough Cox angst. How do you like this wrapping paper? My son-in-law took plain brown paper and added the design. Isn't this amazing? And what a great idea, hey?

AND...
Our grandson's drawing was chosen for the school Christmas card. Proud? You bet:)

AND...
In with the HH's BDay presents were advent treats for the dog. Heh.

AND...I got some wonderful mementoes for the holidays including a beautiful card from EC, a fun Jacquie Lawson card from Val, a PERSONALIZED bookmarker from Rockin' Ro and these delightful socks from the grandbaby--with a little help from his daddy, of course;)
How were your holidays? Have you ever designed your own wrapping paper?

Cox anxt doesn't even begin to cover it. You have obviously mastered the 'English understatement'.
Heartfelt hugs and the usual oceans of caring are flowing your way.

Sorry about your cat but at that age it is to be expected and I am sure you have great memories. Your SiL is clever. I wonder how he did it. The socks are cute and the cactus in pots rather funny.

Hi Sandra ... so pleased things are coming together - it's been a very rough time for you all with still lots of healing ahead. All the best for the family. Sorry about Captain Stubby ... love his name.

Your grandson's card is delightful, while the wrapping paper is creative ... and I love the cactus cats ... fun! With thoughts for the early part of 2020 and then continuing on ... Hilary

haha the cat one is great indeed.

Ugg things sure just keep on hitting, as they tend to do when crummy rolls around. Sorry to hear about your kitty. At least there was some good news with the kiddos cancer. Hopefully he is squared away soon.

I'm counting on it, Val. And right back at ya.

Good news meets bad news. So sorry for your loss of Stubby. He DID live a decent life, although that is little comfort at the moment.

Not good news about your brother. I hope the test is good, but if not, he gets on the transfer list and a new liver comes through soon. That isn't an organ a person can live without.

Better news about your grand baby. The child is too young and the parents don't need that hanging over their heads the rest of the baby's life.

Even better news: congrats to your grandson. What a fun and adorable holiday card.

I often make my own wrapping paper. I've done it for years. However, mine never looked as good as those packages! Had to laugh in the end at the cat cacti.

Happy holidays, dear. Let's hope for decent news in the near future.

Oh my! When it rains, it pours, but there's always a silver lining. Good news about the baby and the docs will get him squared away. The baby is adorable by the way. Love those socks.

I hope a suitable donor will be found for your brother.

Sorry about Captain Stubby. He did live a good, long life, and from what I hear Catarau is a nice place.

Congrats to the budding artist.

And the wrapping paper your SIL is gorgeous.

The cat planters made me smile.

Though, the year ended on a down with you, as my elderly neighbor used to say: Better Days are coming.

You have had your share of stress for the year ending so I believe this year is one of hope and truth in positive futures. It is always sad when we lose a pet because they are members of the family but he lived a long time and he had a good home. Your brother is now on the list and he will get a good liver and start to feel better. The doctors are right on top of your grandchild’s health and he will be monitored well so that is great news even though he is back in the hospital. He will get better and will do well. My sister’s grandchild was told she had a type of cancer, not a cancer but is one...one of those weird diseases. The family was told she may not live to see 5. She is 18 now and is do8 g well and in remission. Life and optimism is important. I raise my glass to you for a beautiful new year coming.

I was thinking about how I put down my dog a few years ago. I managed to be free of the nightmares of it for about a year.

Sorry you've had so much bad news arriving almost all at once. I'm glad some of it has turned out well and that you've been able to navigate it all with such equilibrium. I'm sure you know you have a lot of support from friends online and in person. Wishing the best news ever for your grandbaby.

I feel like there are lots of trials and tribulations in this life that build our character and strengthen our spirituality. I think there's a lot more to the Universe that what we experience on this Earth.

That's really cool wrapping paper. I might have to try that sometime!

Neat about the Christmas card, dog treats and socks.🙂

And I need to find those cat planters too!

Well, first of all, I'm so sorry about your Captain Stubby. Saying goodbye with so many things on your plate, and being concerned about Belle, had to be difficult indeed. But that is good news about the potential transplant (fingers crossed) and for the baby. I know it will be watched with concern forever, but for now, that's very good indeed. Those cat planters are cute -- I'd probably use them for Lizzie's bowl! I'm much relieved after reading this post, Sandra.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Christine. I appreciate that. #familystrong.

I can surely empathize, Adam. Sometimes what seems like the best thing for your animal turns into a nightmare.

I like 'more to the Universe than what we experience on earth.'
Hope you try the wrapping paper. I suggested to their mom that the kids color or paint the wrapping paper next year.
Yes and yes. The buds are great and we need those cat planters:)
