Tuesday

How was your Fourth? There were no fireworks in our town this year. Sob. I've always taken them for granted. Now I'm more appreciative. Did your area have fireworks?

AND...
I made vegetable soup, with a tomato sauce base AND added chocolate. If it sounds questionable (grin) the chocolate basically adds a sweet basil flavor.
AND...Author bud D. L. Finn and Chester with a copy of Mateo's Law. Chester's a natural, isn't he?
AND...The pals.
AND...Of course, the flowers;)
The butterflies are back.

How was your weekend? Hopefully more exciting than mine;)

That looks like a pretty damn excellent weekend to me. And yes, Chester is a natural.
I am getting increasingly ambivalent about fireworks. Yes they can be pretty but they also freak out wildlife, pets and people with PTSD (among other conditions).

Sorry there were no fireworks Sandra, Yes, we do seem to take much for granted perhaps this pandemic has taught us a lesson.
Have a good Tuesday.

The soup looks delicious! I've (well, hubby, who's the cook in our house) has used chocolate in savoury food before... with mixed results :-)

You can't beat a good hydrangea bloom or a beautiful butterfly.

Hi Sandra - well Chester is obviously keen on getting into reading Mateo's Law ... fun and congratulations. Soup looks good ... while the hydrangeas are beautiful ... take care - Hilary

My weekend was quiet too. My dog kept me company. Love your flowers.

No fireworks here in Massachusetts as towns across the state cancelled parades and fireworks. That didn't stop people from shooting them off all week even though fireworks are illegal here. Too hot for soup Congrats on the book! Hugs and headbutts to all the fur babies. Your hydrangeas are gorgeous and I saw a black butterfly last week! Enjoy your day!

The fireworks show that usually takes place in my town was cancelled this year, but people still set off firewowrks at their homes. There were several on my street.

Beautiful photos. What a pretty butterfly! And you've been quite the cooking machine this week. We had fireworks on the lake and I loved them. Unfortunately, every other idiot on the lake also had them in their yards/beaches till way too late!

Great photos! Those flowers are so beautiful. And that's fascinating about the vegetable soup--never would've guessed chocolate could aid it like that!

Thanks so much and you too:)
Hugs received and returned.

Very true. I was excited because it would have been a 'safe' outing since we would have been in the car.

since the traditional "at the park display" was cancelled, everyone in the neighborhood; set to outdo the next, and I mean literally everyone. the store owners who sold fireworks made a fortune ~~☺☺♥♥

Thank you, Yvonne:) You have a good Tuesday too:)

Sandra Cox said...

Why thank you, Annalisa:) Good on you for having a cook:)
How's the new book doing?

Sandra Cox said...

Agreed, Andrew. Oddly, just a few feet away is another hydrangea that is rather puny looking.
Take care.

Chester is definitely a fan:) Our usual fireworks were canceled, but a local group of businesses had fireworks done on an empty lot in town, but kept it a secret where. We guessed the wrong direction but were in the right area, it was a nice show.I've never heard of adding chocolate to tomato soup, I can see that working well. Beautiful flowers and I love the butterfly! Xo

Heh, don't ya love Chester?
Thanks, Hilary.
Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Sounds like you had good company:)
Thanks, Natalie, and thanks for stopping by.

Sure got a feline fan too. No fireworks here aside from the few neighbors shooting them off. Have the pals accepted their new buddy yet?

Sandra Cox said...

Yeah, they were shooting them off here too.
Yay on the black butterfly sighting.
Have a good one.

Home fireworks seems to be the norm this year.

Plenty of fireworks here. Fireworks displays can be beautiful, but the noise upsets Franklin and Penelope. I feel terrible when Penelope trembles because of the sound.

Love,
Janie

I bet fireworks over the lake were beautiful. The backyard fireworks can get a bit much.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks. I must admit, it did taste a bit better in the chili:)

Sandra Cox said...

Ha. That's exactly what the HH said about the firework sellers:)

Sandra Cox said...

Glad you got to see a good fireworks show.
The chocolate was better in the chili:) I liked the taste of the soup but not the smell. Strange hey?
Good to hear you like the flowers and butterfly.
Gotta love Chester:)

Thanks so much, Jan.

Sandra Cox said...

Yes and yes. Too bad they can't figure out how to have them without the booms.

Tomato chocolate soup?? Maybe I would give it a taste, why not.

Sandra Cox said...

FYI: Use it sparingly. I got too much in mine.

I love your best buddies and to your friend holding your book with an appreciative rub from your kitty. Thankfully no fireworks in our area because our doggie gets too scared. I don't like the fireworks people get and use in the streets because houses have caught on fire. The CN Tower in Toronto did a light show that I saw on TV the next day...our days was July 1st. My hubby was sweet and told me to get into my craft room and create cards which is what I did. Thankfully, this Saturday I am finally going to get my infusion for my pain.
