Tuesday

Today's question: If you are a  state governor and a sheriff publicly refuses to enforce your mandates, how do you handle it?
AND...
Expandable, Flexible Garden Hoses.
Has anyone tried or have these? I love mine. It's so light and easy to manage. The old standard hose I had filled up the whole bowl and hung over it once it had kinks in it. This one covers the same length of the garden, the old one did.  I recommend it for anyone who has to haul a garden hose around.
AND...
Looky. Looky.
My first Iris to bloom in July.  Most of my Irises are standard bloomers. I didn't even know this Iris was a rebloomer. I'm so excited:)
AND...
The hostas are blooming.
That's it for me. Got blooms? An opinion on ignoring governor mandates?

Good question! I don't know the answer! Have a great day, Valerie

Hooray for garden joy. A big hooray for garden joy.
No answer on that tricky question. Can the Governor dismiss the Sheriff?

I assume it is beyond the Governor's powers to sack the sheriff, so clever politics is needed, to get people on side and apply pressure to the sheriff and that rather depends on co-operation by media. The bad sheriff who is disobeying the caring governor who wants to look after his or her citizens. It's an interesting one, for sure.

There was a version of flat hoses that didn't kink and rolled up neatly many years ago, but they soon sprang a leak.

Lovely pictures Sandra a pleasure to look at. As for the question I don't know what the answer is.
Do have a wonderful day and stay safe,

Yvonne.

Similar conundrum here in KS. Governor has mandated masks be worn by everyone over the age of five. City of Wichita officials agreed and said masks must be worn in public or fined. Sedgwick COUNTY officials in which Wichita is the biggest city say masks are NOT mandatory. Mayor of Wichita says Wichita residents WILL wear masks, but anyone living outside the city limits must use their own discretion whether they want to live or not. Derby, another town in Sedgwick County also requires masks be worn. Not sure the county is on the winning side of this one.

LOVE those irises. Never saw any like those before. My hostas aren't blooming, but it seems mine only bloom once every three years or so. I think a lot of it depends on how much moisture they get, since I don't water them.

Our hostas are nearing the end of their blooms.

And if you have a governor like ours, he does nothing. There were sheriffs here that said if a business had opened properly, they wouldn't shut them down because it was their job to uphold the Constitution as well as the law. (And yes, I think everyone should wear masks so we can get this mess under control and not have to shut down more businesses.)

Good to know about the hose in case my breaks. Love your hostas.

I live in Michigan where the governor is taking good charge and just ordered everyone to wear masks in public when people didn't follow the rule before she set some penalties. And the attorney general may prosecute some of the party goers at the beach on July 4th who wore no masks and did not social distance.

The answer to your question I suppose is how is the sheriff appointed? Can the sheriff be fired? We had one of those hoses and after a short amount of time, really short, it sprung leaks. Your flowers are very pretty. Be sure to get a photo of that iris when it opens.

First off, I need one of those hoses. Do you have a source or are they fairly common.

On mandates -- I hope like crazy those rules get enforced. We'll be dealing with that situation here. We ARE dealing with it. One sheriff (and maybe more) has refused to enforce and to refer complaints and violations to the atty. general's office. Who really can't do much without law enforcement. Sheriffs are elected in MI and can't be fired by the gov, only recalled. It's a big dilemma. I'll be interested in other comments.

I have to look into that flexible hose.

I just recently bought a hose, but not the flexible kind. I considered it, but I had to be a bit more cheaper about it. lol

I don't either, Val.

My favorite hoses! My other ones are all kinked. Good question about the Governor and Sheriff,I feel like we are in a time where so many are opposed no matter what either does. I guess it depends on the laws in place and what either can truly do.Reason isn't making its way to the right ears. I feel for all the Governors trying to do their best in a bad situation.

Sandra Cox said...

Hooray indeed.
Technically no. Though, I was reading that the governor stepped in and fired the sheriff after a bad school shooting and the judge upheld his decision.

Sandra Cox said...

Clever politics is needed for sure. Part of our problem here is the media has been so maligned, by you know you, that a huge portion of folks don't believe anything they say.
Toes crossed this hose doesn't spring a leak.

PS I like your plan.

Thanks, Yvonne, and right back at ya:)

The mask issue just makes me shake my head. It seems like such a no-brainer.
Bummer on the hostas:( We will look forward to your other beauties.

Sandra Cox said...

The great thing about hostas is their leaves look even better than the flowers.
Let's here it for mask wearing.

Sandra Cox said...

So far, I really like it.
My hostas thank you:)
I've been following your governor. She's a tough lady. Kudos to her.

Sandra Cox said...

My understanding is the governor has nothing to do with the sheriff's appointment. It's a conundrum isn't it?
ACK. I hope this hose doesn't do the same.
I ran out and got a pic of the iris;)
Stay safe and be healthy.

Sandra Cox said...

I got mine off of Amazon.
It's a conundrum for sure and seems to be playing out in many states.

Sandra Cox said...

I love it.

Sandra Cox said...

I hear ya on that! I did exactly the same thing for the same reason with the previous hose.

I heard about this type of hose..my hubby has a regular one which is nicely put away..he is such a neat freak. Whenever I would put it away, it would go into figure eights and look sloppy. Our hostas look so good as well. As for that question, I would threaten to fire the sheriff and major fines..money talks no matter which way.

Sandra Cox said...

Crazy isn't it.
Yay for the blooming hostas.

Sandra Cox said...

Isn't that hose wonderful? Like many of the governors:) Others...not so much.

Sandra Cox said...

Good job on having great hostas and a neat hose:)
Unfortunately, I don't think the governor has that authority.
And yes money talks for sure.

Those hoses work good from what i have seen of them. Tricky with the sheriff.
