I only lend books to my very favourite people who I know will return them as soon as possible. I do have an errant book I need to return to a friend, but Covid lockdown has thwarted that at present!
I used to lend books all the time to friends when I was a kid, but when they stopped returning them and coming up with over the top excuses of why they couldn't return them, I went to a "NO you cannot borrow my books" rule!(lol) The only time that changes is when I have a duplicate, which lately isn't very often. Hope you're staying cool and having fun! Hugs, RO
Sadly, that's far too true, Sandra. I fear people have a tendency to "lose" the books I loan them, so I've also decided to not lend books unless I have no more use for it, and don't care if it's not returned.
This is so true! I never lend books and, once, my sister in law, who was watching over our house when we left on vacation, took a book home. When I got home I noticed something was different in our library. When I found out she took a book, hardcover bio on Bette Davis, I was livid. She never asked and her thinking was, “it’s just a book what’s the big deal.” I asked her to return it and she asked me if I would lend a book to anyone and I said no because of previous experience. She said she felt sorry for me. She is a very good person but her family and her have replaced many things in their home because they are so rough with stuff. She also broke our front door down once when she locked herself door out plus did something else, can’t recall, and when my hubby asked her WTF?? She just laughed. She never gave us money when my hubby fixed the door.

That may account for some of our missing books but we always return books.

I rarely lend out books, except to my mom.

That's pretty darned true!
Thanks, Val. You have a good day too:)
Hugs received and returned.
Very true quote, Sandra! There have been a couple I hunted down and got back, they were favorites:)
I hear ya. My mom once guilted me into loaning out my favorite book. I never got it back. And I never found it to buy it again.
Good plan. Let's hope we get COVID under control and you get your book back.
Or lend them digitally because then you can pull them back!
There ya go:)
Good on you for hunting them down and getting them back, Denise:)
Good on you, Andrew, for returning books:)
I hear ya. I'm okay loaning out my 'regulars'. Not so much my 'favorites'.
Hugs received and returned.
Yes, unfortunately. Sounds like you have a plan.
books in my house are like cash...." no you can't have any " !!! ☺☺♥♥
Moms are, of course, the exception:)
Heh. Good one:)
It shouldn't be true, but sadly it so often is!
All the best Jan

Yvonne.
