It's Tuesday

Greetings Blogger Buds. How was your weekend? Your Monday?

We took a day trip into the mountains with a couple of buds and had all kinds of fun. We walked around Blowing Rock where I picked up a rain gauge. Frank is putting his seal of approval on it.

From there we went to the shopping outlet. And then to Boone for lunch.

The flowers in the mountains are absolutely gorgeous.

One of the buds chauffeured us in her Tesla. Have you ever ridden in one? Oh my gosh. It's an amazing car. If I was in a different income bracket (heh) I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Plenty of leg room in the backseat. This one had two sunroofs. One in the front. One in the back. A computer screen up front that showed the car and the traffic around it. Since it doesn't have an engine, it has two trunks. And pickup. Wowzers. There's not that few second delay before the car takes off.  The foot goes down, the car zips forward.

We arrived home tired but happy.

AND

Frank taking a break from patrolling the parameters of his property:)

  AND

Frank loves canned chicken cat food with carrots, but turns up his nose at canned chicken food with greens. Go figure.

AND

A Home Remedy That Worked For Me.

I got stung by a big ole, bad-tempered, mean, nasty bumble bee. May he find his way to Bumble Bee hell. You know the huge ones with wide black and yellow stripes. Almost immediately my arm swelled up and turned brick red. I tried an over the counter cream for two days. The third I was contemplating going to Urgent Care when I decided to try a baking soda paste. By the end of the day nearly all the swelling was gone and the redness down to a small blotch.

What about you, blogger buds? How was your weekend and/or your Monday? Do anything fun? Had any run ins with bumble bees?

No bee trouble here, fortunately. I thought about buying a Tesla, but I'd have to give up food and electricity so I decided it wasn't a good idea. We had a nice weekend and Monday was fine.

Love,
Janie

Last time I was stung by a bee I blew up in a spectacular way. I couldn't bend the arm it got twenty minutes later because it was too swollen. If I am unlucky enough to get stung again I will remember your trick. Thanks.
Love that rain guage that Frankie was checking out.
And Jazz (bless his black heart) is not only fussy about what he eats but where he eats it. Some food he will not eat from his plate - it has to be put on a mat for him.

So glad you had a great weekend. Sorry about the bee-sting, glad the baking soda helped. Frankie is gorgeous, and he knows it! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

Hi Sandra - Sounds like you had a lovely day out ... Blowing Rock obviously satisfied a few needs in these times, glad Frank approves. Tesla - no, I hadn't realised those 'details' ... but am so happy you had the privelege of a posh ride. Animals ... they're always special.
When we were kids I learnt about baking soda for bees, and vinegar for wasp stings ... but glad your swelling came down. Cheers Hilary

An interesting spelling of Dani'l Boone. I wonder if there is some kind of copyright on the name. (Daniel Boone was a man, a big big man...flea in ear now).

The Tesla must have some kind of engine. Electric I think. I am envious of your ride.

Bad luck at the bee sting. The brand name here is Soove, a powder like a coarse and chalky talc that is terrific for any kind itch, rash and stings. I think it would work the same as a baking soda paste.

Sounds like you had a fun weekend. I'll keep the home bee sting remedy in mind if I get stung.

Your rain gauge is fabulous and I like Frank giving his seal of approval. I have an allergy to bee stings so my remedy is better living through Chemistry with Benadryl. Glad you didn't have to end up at Urgent care. Frank sounds like Himself. Hard to get Himself to eat green veggies beyond green beans.

Sounds like you had fun with your buds. Did the Tesla have wings? Are you telling me you don't have a measly 45K lying around your home (grin)?

Sure love seeing Frank inspecting the new rain gauge and taking time to do a bit of relaxing, too. I like how you diverted the water to your plants. I have a couple of those same systems.

I've only been stung once by a bee and, like you, my arm swelled within minutes. Wish I'd known about your baking soda remedy when mine happened. Thanks for the tip just in case!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun on your trip! That car sounds amazing! I had no idea they were that nice and smooth.

Glad your bee remedy worked! :)

How fun you got to go to the mountains and ride in a Telsa too. I've never been in one but admired the raising doors! I love your new rain gauge with the Dragonflies. I will never understand a cat's taste buds. Ours is down to only grilled fish. Have a great Tuesday xo

Also glad the baking soda paste worked. I did that for a spider bite years ago and it cleared it right up!

I'm happy you aren't dealing with Bumble Bees.
I'm not sure giving up food and electricity would even take care of buying a Tesla. Check out the price tag. Ouch. Plus you'd need the electricity to charge the car. Heh.

Oh Gads. Your blowup may have been worse than mine.
Had a half inch in the rain gauge today:)
My cats are the same way! It has to be their dish and in their spot. Creatures of habit for sure. And now when Frank comes in he insists I escort him to the food dish. Eye roll.

what a cutie Frank is! Have never ridden in a Tesla and probably never will!

Okay, I found some cheaper than I'd originally seen, maybe food, electricity, phone and insurance. Hahaha

AND glad you had a nice weekend;)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks. I was stunned at how well it worked.
Yes, he may at that:)
Thanks, Val. You have a great week too:)
Hugs received and returned.

Good question on his name and copyright. In the South, it was pronounced Danl:)
The Tesla has a motor and battery pack. It's awesome.
Do you just sprinkle Soove on or make a paste out of it?
Have a good one.

Frank and I thank you:)
I tried Benadryl cream for two days before I flipped to the baking soda. The Benadryl cut down on the pain and itch but didn't touch the swelling.
Heh about Himself:)

Sandra Cox said...

PS Glad the Benadryl works for you.

Sandra Cox said...

Oh yeah and I forgot, you open the doors with your thumb.
Right there with ya on cats' taste buds:)
Have a great one.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, bud. Good to know on the spider bite.

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, Hils. It was fun.
Interesting you should mention vinegar. After I used the baking soda paste, I did a search and one of the recipes mentioned adding water and vinegar to the baking soda for a paste. Hmmm.....

Sandra Cox said...

I'm glad you had a good day, HG, and that you love the kitty:)

Sandra Cox said...

Up until the bee sting, it was all kinds of fun. Grin.
I hope you never get one.

Sandra Cox said...

The Tesla had everything but wings:) Heh. 45 might get us a stripped down model. Grin. Wish I did have 45K lying around the house:)
I hope you are never stung again, my friend.
Take special care.

Sandra Cox said...

I did and it is:)
I'm relieved the remedy worked too:)
Take special care.

Hey Caren, How are you?
Frank's a mess and the Tesla was amazing.
Take care.

Carrots vs greens...maybe he likes the sweeter taste of carrots.
Teslas are popular here.

Thank goodness for baking soda paste ...
I agree with Christine as carrots taste sweeter than greens he perhaps prefers the sweeter taste.

All the best Jan

Meat tenderizer for bee stings but you know....I would get tested to find out if you are allergic to bee stings. You may need an epee pen but, let’s hope, you don’t get stung ever again. I’m glad you had a nice time out but I bet your pussy cat was happy to see you. Our cats like pate in one but not the gravy( some seafood one) but in another it is the opposite. You just never know.

Janie Junebug said...

I checked the price. I'd have to give up everything, including my house, and live in the Tesla. No thanks.

Sandra Cox said...

Hmm. There's a thought.
Intersting on the Teslas. They're popular here but also pricey.

Sandra Cox said...

Indeed:)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, J.P.
I'll send you a hug;)

Sandra Cox said...

Meat tenderizer. Good to know.
I'll mention the sting to my allergist next time I have an appointment. Thanks, Birgit:)
So true, you never know with cats and their food.
Take special care.

Everything here is loads of fun except for the sting which doesn't sound good at all. I'm glad the paste worked. It sounds like a terrific day in Blowing Rock and I really adored the photos of Frank -- he's a beauty! And that garden. I'm in awe!

Love you Frank! LOL! I would love to sit in a Tesla. Maybe one day. You never know, right? LOL! Looks like a beautiful place you went to Sandra! I have heard of that before about bee stings! I'm glad it worked for you! Big Hugs!
