I knew that beer in moderation (no more than 3 a day) supposedly has many health benefits, but I had no idea about the kidney stones. Thanks Sue (EC) for this latest tidbit of trivia.
So one can assume if you drink beer to excess, you completely erase the risk of kidney stones. Being sensible for a moment, that may not be as silly as it sounds. Lots of fluid passing through kidneys may just prevent kidney stones.
Considering my hubby had a very large kidney stone, I will need to tell him to drink more beer. He will be happy about that. This is also a reason why my brother never had one.
Nothing wrong with that. If you research and find out differently let us know. The sites I saw said that it was a diuretic and prevents calcium deposits from forming.

No, I didn't know this, but I don't drink beer! Hugs, Valerie

I loathe beer.
Hi Sandra and EC ... occasionally I'll have a beer - but I don't have kidney stones. Cheers Hilary
Why couldn't it be eating lots of milk chocolate?
I didn't but I'm telling Rick that right now!
Who'd a thought.
I don't either:)
Hugs received and returned.
Definitely. Drinking a lot of water is also stressed.
Beer supposedly prevents calcium deposits from forming in the kidneys.
Yup. Me too.
Glad you don't have kidney stones. They're nasty things.
Sure would work for me.

I wish I liked beer. Threw it up in my teen years and never liked it again.
