April 6
question - Have any of your books been made into audio books? If so, what is
the main challenge in producing an audiobook?
MATEO’S LAW is an audiobook. I went through Amazon and found the process to be a lot easier than expected. My challenge is marketing. I'd be quite interested to hear how others have approached this.
March/April reviews
I’m afraid I’ve fallen down on my Indie reads and reviews. I’ve been pretty caught up in the Pendergast series. Has anyone else read any of these books? I’m both repelled and fascinated. It’s occult suspense that meanders into horror. The horror side is what repels. But the characters are fascinating. So, I keep reading😊
I did read one book that I absolute loved and here’s the review.
CASSADARK by Alex Cavanaugh
CASSADARK is a Sci-Fi with heart and non-stop action.
In book four of the Cassa Series, Bassan, a nerdy young man with incredible talents, must navigate a plethora of mine fields on and off planet. For someone who is a legend in the galaxy, Bassan has no confidence in himself or his abilities. When his friend nearly loses his life, Bassan blames himself and his self-doubts increase. An unplanned trip to a prison planet will put his capabilities to the test and make him prove his mettle to the people relying on him to save them and to himself. The journey into the stars sends him hurtling into the adventure of a lifetime.
While genre is important it takes second place to a well-told tale. Sci-Fi isn’t my go-to genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed CASSADARK. The characters are well-developed, the world-building phenomenal and the action never stops. I highly recommend it.
Available at Amazon.
AND
MATEO'S BLOOD BROTHER will be released April 22. If anyone can help me get the word out it would be much appreciated. And to those who have already offered, mega thanks:)
Behind the amicable façade is a man who’s tough and determined. He’s Mateo’s Blood Brother.

What about you? Have any books on audio? Read any good books?

I haven't yet read (or had read to me?) any audio books. Sometime... I do admire and appreciate you brave authors though.
The only book of mine that's an audiobook is a book that was traditionally published, so I had no control over it. I'm glad to know the process was easy for you. It's something I should be considering for my indie titles. Thanks, Sandra.
Here's a helpful look at what can work for audiobook marketing: https://insights.bookbub.com/ultimate-collection-audiobook-marketing-examples/
Personally, I do the Instagram stuff on occasion and let my podcast do the rest of the work.
Love the blurb for Mateo's Blood Brother. I've sent an email to your gmail account I have on file (hope it still works!). You can always contact me with a DM on Twitter if you didn't get it. It's about a guest post on my blog for this book...
Ronel visiting for IWSG day The Difference Between Reading Books and Collecting Books
That’s good that one of your books went audio. Congrats to Alex!!
That's great that you found the process of making an audiobook not that hard. Congrats to Alex on his new release.
Thanks for mentioning Alex's book.
Marketing audio books is tricky. There aren't a lot of reviewers for audio. Reaching the podcast listener market helps as they listen to the most audio books.
I can help with your book release.
Really glad you enjoyed it! More than happy to help spread the word about your book.
Not me, for sure. I'm not thrilled with audio books. I can concentrate on print but not on audio -- too many distractions!
Thanks for sharing. Interesting you have dabbled in audiobooks.
I like audiobooks while on a road trip. It makes the journey go by so fast. Thanks for sharing, Sandra.
That is interesting that Mateo's Law is up on audio. I'd probably go with Amazon, knowing nothing about any competitors, because they have all of my other writing! Happy April, friend!
I haven't ventured into audio books yet. Glad you had a good experience. I've heard a lot about the Pendergast series and plan to read it at some point. Great review, Casadrak sounds like a good read.xo
I love new books! I like audio books, too! Hugs, Valerie
I'm still a book reader. Though, several people I know tell me they don't have time to read so they listen.
AND Your authors appreciate you:)
You bet. I think Amazon makes it easy. A step by step. And they have several options for expense/royalties.
I haven't made an audiobook. Maybe one day...
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Congrats, Alex!
Thank, Ronel. That's very helpful on several levels. I'll certainly be in touch.
Thanks from both of us, Birgit;)
Thanks, Natalie. Most of the work was done by James Todd, the narrator, who I really liked.
AND yay for Alex;)
Good tip. Thanks for that. AND Thanks for the offer to help me get the word out. I'll certainly take you up on that:)
I did indeed.
Thanks, Alex. Appreciate that. I'll be in touch.
I hear ya:) No pun intended:) Heh.
If my sales were better, I'd dabble again:) Who knows. Maybe down the road.
I've heard a lot of folks say that.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Sounds like a plan to me;)
And a Happy April to you:)
Thanks.
I think you'd like the Pendergast series, though there's about a gazillion books in it;)
Yay you! Where would we be without books?:)
Hugs received and returned.
You bet:) And thank you:)
Congratulations on getting your book into audio. People are interested in listening to stories much more these days!
Thanks for offering to have me on your blog, Sandra. I'm enroute to Canada next week and I won't have internet for a bit. I'll talk to you after it's hooked up. Thanks again!
Suerte con los libros. Te mando un beso.
Gosh, Sandra. I'm such a troglodyte. I have no e-reader and my audio player only plays cassettes. I'm glad Mateo's Blood Brother is already getting lots of attention.
I agree, Lee. My problem has been getting my name or book title out there.
I know what you mean. I feel so technologically challenged some days. I think you'd like the e readers. I'm attached to mine:)
Mateo is getting attention in large part due to you. Thanks so much for the shout out.
Hugs
I haven't read any of the Pendergast Books, but I plan to change that. Thanks for the tip. :-)
Anna from elements of emaginette
You bet:)
Thanks, J.P.:)
Let us know what you think, Anna:)
Congrats on trying the audiobook adventure. I know nothing. Congrats on your upcoming release!!! I pre-ordered it. I always feel like magic takes place in my life when I pre-order, then suddenly the release day arrives and bingo, the ebook is in my Kindle. Sometimes I really love technology.
I haven't listened to any audiobooks lately because I'm hard of hearing, and so other noises tend to distract me more easily when I'm listening to an audiobook. But Alex's book sounds interesting enough to hold my attention, and congratulations to him on the publication!
I've never actually listened to an audiobook. I find I get more out of seeing things than hearing them. It seems that most people who have gone the audiobook route have used Amazon/ACX, so when I do get to that point, that's where I'll start. Congrats to Alex and to you on your new release!
