Writerly Wednesday

 What's your word for:

Mine: Shades.

And here's your bonus question.  What book title was the word hues used in recently? Wink. Wink.

I think of hues as a poetic word for colour.

Colours, hues, tones, shades, tints....hugs Valerie

I've known a few hues in my time.
Hues seems seems subtle, more subtle than shades or tones.

Valerie took all the words I know for hue. But I also agree with Andrew; hues seem softer than shades or tones. Fun one, Sandra.

Jamie here (still struggling with the Blogger commenting thing!):

Agree with the others' above comments.

I'm going a completely different direction and say bias. For example, I look at the world through the lens and hue of my rose-colored glasses.

I was going to Google 'hues in a book title' but decided that was cheating!

Hue is any color on the color wheel, while tints are created when you add white. Tones are created when you add both black and white (or gray), and shades are created when you add black. Therefore, to me, hue means color.

Hues reminds me of painted words or colors. Soft and gentle with depth. I defined more than came up with another word...lol xo
