Ketch-up Day

 Greetings Blogger Buds,

Here's the last of the rocks, discounting the Hope Diamond, that's yet to come, and a miss-mash of shots of the Museum of Natural History.

Did you know ultramarine is made from lapis lazuli? Ever seen a giant moth?

Lovely pics from the museum. I've never seen a giant moth and I don't want to, it would freak me out! Hugs, Valerie

I am not sure I would be happy if someone crushed my lapis lazuli. I suppose it is quick ending.

I'm impressed with our ancestral trilobites.

Hi Sandra - I've always loved lapis lazuli - beautiful stone - mostly found in Afghanistan and brought to the west by travellers. While those trilobytes in the slate are just beautiful examples, we've been covering these in our geoscience courses ...

That mask is incredible ... would put me off the afterlife!!

The museum definitely deserves all the attention it can get - thanks for these ... cheers Hilary

I love rocks with fossils in them. I actually have a couple from my father's collection.

Lots of stories hidden among all of these. And if only those rocks could talk, such tales they would have to impart!

Love Lapis Lazuli. It is such a brilliant blue.the great artists really did all they could with this rock to get that brilliant colour. It could have been more expensive than gold.
