Hold the Ameche! There's a great movie starring Gary Cooper & Barbara Stanwyck.its called Ball of Fire. She's a Dame who has to hide out and finds the patsy in Cooper who is writing a book on slang. She hangs out either him and 7 elderly professors. Her mobster boyfriend is on the lam with some Tommy's but he plans to get her back. She hopes he does but doesn't expect to fall for the dope in. Cooper BTW..Ameche is slang for phone. Don Ameche played Bell in a bio and was a huge success. People identified Don Ameche with Bell so much his last name became a slang term.
