Ketch-up Day

Oh my gosh, as most of you probably know, Helene smacked North Carolina. Over thirty people have died.  Asheville was hit hard. Chimney Rock Village was destroyed. Over two hundred roads are closed. Hundreds of thousands are without power. Homes and businesses under water. And the list goes on...

The HH and I were very, very lucky.  We got about seven inches of rain and downed tree limbs and, knock on wood, that was the worst of it. I hope those of you that were in Helene's path were and are safe.

My preparations: I stocked up on water and made an extra pot of coffee in case the power went out. Heh.  As you can see, I've got a ways to go on the Eternal Staining of the Fence:)

Grocery shelves in a store in FL prior to Helene.

Thanks, Sonya.

This isn't a very good picture, as it was taken through two doors, but I thought it was cute:)

From California.

Thanks, Denise.

That's it, folks. How's your weather?

So glad you are ok, but sad for all the devastation. I love the kitty picture, cute. Smart to have water and coffee just in case. I do boiled eggs and water :) it's hot and dry here. Xo

Echoing D.L.Finn. I hope that power can be restored quickly.

You were really lucky. I'm glad for you. Have you heard from RO? I sent her an e-mail.

Love the cat photo and delighted to seen how little damage was done to your property. Great photos from around the country. Here we missed all the rain and it has been dry for several days and will be for the next seven (according to the local weather crew).

Hi Sandra - Helene hasn't been kind to many ... glad you're safe; we've had a bit here too ... but all ok - equally glad you've come out of it ok ... perhaps Helene should have taken the fence with her ... leaving you with less to do?! Cheers Hilary

It’s great to hear that you escape the wrath of the storm, Sandra. Stay well, stay dry, stay safe. Here you would never know it is fall. Yesterday it climbed to 23 degrees C. Crazy weather for the time of year.

Glad you're all right. Rain and wind is all we got.
What is the cat curled up with-a stuffed bear?

Good to hear your town didn't get the flash flooding. It's just heartbreaking to see the photos and videos. We had one swatch of feeder bands hit us, causing a tornado warning. (The one that hit Rocky Mount - that system started in Mt. Olive, went through Fremont, then up to Rocky Mount where it did damage.)

Calm here. I thought of you when I heard on the news about NC. It is good to know you are ok with little damage.
The blue bird is very pretty.

Oh...I heard early this morning that the toll is up to 145? Incredibly sad!!
Hope all is well with you!

So glad to hear you came through the storm relatively unscathed. Next storm prep, I'll remember a Teddy bear. Yup, I can see that's a great comfort item to have. Take care.

First, I am glad you and the HH are safe. I have seen photos and it is devastating. I have friends in Florida and Tennessee and some did not do so
well but, they are alive.

I hope so too, EC, but they're talking about a long recovery time.

Sounds about right for the death total of the states she smacked. We are fine and again, very lucky. Thanks;) Hugs,

Thank you so much, J.P. Sending you a hug.

The devastation is stunning for sure.
I'm going to have to try to get a better picture of Maisy and her stuffed gorilla:)
Boiled eggs is a good idea.
Wish we could have sent you a reasonable portion of this rain. Sigh.

I'm so glad your area didn't get hit, Elizabeth. I haven't heard from Ro either. I think her area is okay.

Glad you're okay, Hils. It's been like Armageddon in pockets of the southeast. Ha on the fence:)

Thanks for your concern. Mother Nature is all over the place, isn't she, David?

I'm relieved you're alright too, Alex. It's a gorilla. Through the glass doors, it does rather resemble a bear:)

We were very, very fortunate. Heartbreaking pretty much sums it up. Rocky Mount got his hard, didn't it? You're okay?

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks for thinking of me, Andrew. Glad it's calm there. Isn't that jay pretty?:)

Sandra Cox said...

Thanks, CJ:) Hope you don't need that teddy bear.

It is devastating. I am so sorry to hear you have friends that didn't weather well.

I'm glad you are safe as well as your family. That was a devastating hurricane. L9ve that puc of the pussy cat! We got hardly anything and it's been warmer than norm. Take care!

So happy you escaped the storm with no property damage. My heart goes out to those in the path of the storm. Our FL property is safe too with only downed limbs. But property and businesses closer to the gulf are destroyed.

So pleased to read you are ok, but so sorry for all the devastation.

It seems worldwide we are experiencing bad weather, here in the UK many of our areas were hit by flooding ... mild in comparison to Helene but still not at all easy for those affected.

Take care out there.

All the best Jan

It's getting to be pretty unnerving, isn't it, Jan?
