There has been a huge outpouring of help and aid to our Western Carolinians from places near and far. Some damaged areas are so remote that mules are being used to deliver supplies. One hundred million dollars has been released by the government to fund relief efforts. The National Guard and FEMA are on the ground. Shelters have been opened. And search and rescue is ongoing. There are still a huge number of road closings, including the full length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Manna Food Banks among many other charitable organizations are also on the ground. Power company crews are working around the clock. Many, many folks have reached out helping hands and if you are one of them thank you.

On a lighter note.
To the HHs (Happy Hubbies) out there. Does this sound like you?
I needed a cake for a friend's birthday and the HH volunteered to pick one up at the grocery store. He got to the store, called and said, "There's a chocolate ganache and one with fruit on it. Which one would you like?"
I said, "How about the one with fruit."
He replied, "Alright."
He came home, handed me the cake and said, "That's the one you wanted, right?"
I opened it and yup, you guessed it. He'd gotten the chocolate ganache. 😄 (In his defense, he does have a hearing problem:)

Chocolate ganache is good too.
I hope the weather the world over is much, much calmer this week. And would like a little rain here.
It is pleasing to hear how much effort and Federal support there is for Carolina. This is rather different to what #45 proclaimed.
'One with fruit' doesn't really sound at all like 'chocolate ganache'. I think HH may had preferred the ganache.
When someone else picks up the cake for you I suppose that you have to be happy with what he brings back. The devastation wrought by Helene is catastrophic and it looks like Milton is going to be worse. How that area will ever recover I have no idea. It is despicable that Trump is lying about the response by FEMA and other groups to score points with his base. But he lies from the moment he wakes up, doesn’t he?
My hubby would do the same thing. He might have bought a vanilla cake! I hope you are ok through all this. I feel so bad for the people who have lost so much. You know, the grocery stores could lend much money. Here, they claim they had to pay so much more for transporting the food but, o the same note, gleefully told us they made 300 million in profit. I bur s my behind how they get away with things. I
Hope you ate OK with toilet paper. Love your garden as always.
It's called selective hearing.
Maybe chocolate ganache was wishful thinking. It's very moving to see the response to Hurricane Helene. The suffering in some areas has been shocking to see. I think Milton is coming because I put away my pump and fancy lantern.
Love,
Janie
One with fruit doesn't really sound like much of a birthday cake. Sorry, but your HH done real good picking the chocolate ganache.
I am so glad the help is there and even through mules. I wish certain people would stop saying nothing was being done...That cake story sounds very familar... lol. I LOVE your flowers, so pretty. Still hot here with no rain in sight. Xo
Today is the first time in over a week I can leave comments. I'm taking advantage of it.
Our electric company sent 2 buckets and workers to help restore power in your area. They are sending 2 more for the next hurricane that will probably hit Tampa.
Your garden is gorgeous. BTW, I finally heard from RO! She is safe.
EC, Ganache is delicious.
Praying for Florida now
I'm sure the chocolate Ganache was delicious. I worry for the residents of Florida facing another hurricane.
Andrew, Yes. The government has really stepped up to the plate.
Heh on the ganache.
David, I am concerned about recovery and wonder if the mountains will ever be the same.
Despicable pretty much sums it up. And sadly, many believe it.
Birgit, Ha on the vanilla cake. And it would be great if the grocery stores would kick in and help.
Alex, LOL.
Lindas flores. te mando un beso.
Janie, Please take care and stay safe.
CJ, Note to self. Don't send CJ a Chantilly cake for her birthday:)
Denise, Right there with ya. We should be working together as Americans in the middle of a crisis not trying to destroy the other party. Glad you like the flowers:) Funny that the story sounds familiar. Heh. It's just wrong that some areas are flooded and others like yours are so dry. Sigh.xo
Elizabeth, Thanks for letting me know Ro is safe. And good on your electric company for helping NC and FL.
Natalie, It was delicious:) I'm worried too. My brother and SIL live in FL.
J.P. Thanks;) Sending you hugs.
Hi Sandra .. the main thing is he's a HH ... bet the cake was enjoyed too ... and I'm glad things in Florida didn't turn out as bad as might have been - though terrible as it's been. Cheers Hilary
