Writerly Wednesday and Did You Know Thursday

 Greetings Bloggers,

What's your synonym, example, sentence or definition for:

Example: CJ brought this lovely, ole-timey word to my attention last week, when describing my writing challenge response. Don't ya love it?

AND

Did you know, there are organisms that are part-plant, part-animal? IE Elysia chlorotical. Sea anemone.

I must have been using the word vignette wrong all these years. I thought it was a group of similar items combined together in a single photo.

And I did know about the sea anemone at one time, but apparently forgot about it until you pointed it out.

Vignette is a lovely word isn't it? I like that sea anenomes straddle the divide between plant and animal. I wonder whether pitcher plants do too.

Anecdote as an alternative to vignette I suppose, but it's not quite the same.

Poor Filomena, she was having such a hard time with English. To their credit no one tittered when she talked about the Balsam vignette on the salad, but I think had she mentioned the vinaigrette of the sea anemones on the wall we would have been unable to contain our mirth.,

Hi Sandra - I'd have said a literary vignette - Jessica Bell uses it ...but I see lots of alternatives, while David has given us a very good go - poor Filomena indeed. Interesting about Sea Anemones - that I hadn't realised. Cheers Hilary

I know this word and have used it! I see it, often, in my film books. I think I knew that anemone was part animal and part plant but I don’t remember…hahaaa
